Cut the tierod in the middle, and sleeve with a piece of tube that has the same ID as the tierod OD. Space tie rod out inside of the tube, weld it up and use rosettes on the tube. Wrap the inner tierod end with a wet rag to keep it cool(ish) while welding.

1.5 mm thread pitch with 10 turns means 15 mm of engagement. Looks like you're on the *** end of what's considered safe

ywah I know the 5 turns I have now is technically no good.

Quick look last night and I found some m14 nuts that are 11mm height. So if I weld an 11mm thick nut onto the end of the tie rod and it gives even 8mm more thread engagement I think that would be reasonable?

5 turns x 1.5 pitch = 7.5mm + 8mm engagement from nut (approx?) = 15.5mm

Thought process make sense?

You could do that. Make sure the tierod end stays cool while welding.

Anyone find an appropriate Coupling nut or alternative solution yet?

i have a bag of nuts on the way from grainger. being 11mm tall is pretty damn big and honestly almost looks like what is used in the picture i posted previously. ill post a pic when they get here (plan is to weld them on this weekend). If they work like i think they will, i had to order a bag of 50...so i can send you some.

on another note, took the car for a cruise tonight on the new setup, and ive gott say...it feels really nice. between the width and added caster from the bushings, the steering feels a little heavier which feels quite nice on initial impression. need to get it aligned still but it looks like i gained the camber i was after too!

Has anyone ever seen the AMS FLCA ball joints? I just stumbled across them, but can't find any specs, and it looks like they're scarcely available.

Gonna give them a call today to clarify a few things. They say m14, but m14x2.0 is the most common thread of this type.... our evo's have m14x1.5

This kit is pretty sweet, but i REALLY don't want to take off my hubs and drill them. I'm lazy.

Actually, I need it for my aluminum hubs where the tie rod is in double shear. Use on factory hub or EvoX LCA wasn't actually a concern for me, just that we were looking for the same thing.

Of course last night was the first night I started looking for it and definitely felt the struggles of thread pitch issues. This to me is a sweet find, I might be able to incorporate this kit as is completely depending on the size of the spacers.

Ordered the "bolt thru" style bumpsteer kit to check out for my application but might be worth doing some research on mustang taper and see if it matches Mitsubishi. That could be a good option for others doing X hubs and LCA

Or buy the through bolt style and drill the taper out of the knuckle.
