More progress. Got pan and pickup off. Gotta boxem up and send to racefab.
And after emailing Jon @ TRE Tuesday saying Id be at his shop Weds 3or4pm, he emails me back asking what time I was gonna be there... after 4emails back to him and about 10 calls... I got no confirmation to drive up the 3hrs it takes to get there...
I emailed again saying Id try tomorrow but no response yet... If this doesn't pan out Ill be sending my stuff to Shep. I really want to use TRE but this is a little out of hand.
I've called him anywhere from 6am to 9am my time (Pacific). And that window has always had the highest "answer" rate lol. His work is worth it. He goes above and beyond what Shep does. He's busy, it's just him and Aaron and they turn out gear and trans like it going out of style.
Was able to finally get out to TRE today. Jon is out of town, worked with Aaron his right hand man. Shop is unassuming in rural-ish Michigan. They do everything in house. was showed around the shop and talked about the process. Aaron disassembled my LSD and trans in 20 mins. Inspected everything and said I got an amazing deal on trans. Its in great shape. Even magnafluxed some parts on the spot. We hung out for a little, was a 3hr trip up. Pretty excited to pickup the finished product.
So 7hrs of driving, an angry wife, but mission accomplished.
Yup! These guys are the real deal though. Again all done in house by Jon and Aaron. Aaron's explanations went way over my head lol. He showed common failures and wear indicators. Had each gear and syncro out and again, these guys know their stuff. I saw the shot peening and the media it uses and the lathe work they do. Decided against pictures even though Aaron hesitantly said OK.
I will say that being able to talk to Jon gave me a lot of confidence in them. He's a hard shop to get a hold of but he's good when you do. He explained why my Weir plates were scored up and was able to save my pinion after the bearing messed it up. I wish I had sent my transmission to him instead of Jack's.
