So I get that ASP doesn't have much more "development" that can be done but for people like me who are new to the platform are benefiting greatly from a thread like this, particularly for those of us driving/developing the X. I've scoured the site till my eyes bleed and have learned a lot... but getting fresh perspectives seems well....fresh. So thank you guys!
With that said.... For the X... What the optimal spring rate? Seems like running higher rates in the rear seem to be the norm. I'm having a set of MCS non-remotes being built as we speak and was recommended (and agreed to but now having my doubts) on 800/800. I was told that if I needed the rear to rotate more that I should adjust my rear sway. Thoughts on this? Its been two weeks since I placed my order and I'm thinking I may be able to switch out rates before they valve the shocks (if they haven't already done so.)
cannot remove the washer tank. it does not have to be full of water and can be completely empty. (Dallas, there is no minimum markings on the washer tank)
Its been a while, but the discussion I had was around coolant reservoirs but I was thinking if there are service marks or low warning lights, that they must be enough to exceed those minimums. Of course with no markings it doesn't matter like you said.
I also forgot there are OEM replicas on ebay and not just the style that was shown. Those certainly would be legal.
Risking weenie protests is always a worry. Some people are just dicks when they lose so would tread carefully there if you plan to head to Nebraska.
Replacement lips, IIRC, are not ASP legal. Reason being you can get pretty liberal with the rules and it becoming a splitter if it was. Geoff Clark just had a missing lip after his broke because he couldn't use an Ebay replacement.
Also, washer tank and wipers must remain and functional in ASP. Need to go to SM to remove. Also, it was explained to me that it technically needs to be a proper level based on the min/max markings. All those rules exist just because things become a slippery slope.
Well that sucks, on a side note I don't have plans to run nationally so I doubt I would be protested. In our local region our ASP group are close friends and none of their cars could pass a legal ASP guidelines.
Splitters are legal in SP as long as they don't protrude farther than the farthest point of the bumper. That lip, however would not be legal. Something like the Millers have would:
You can remove the rear wiper because the RS doesn't have one. Update/Backdate. It's iffy as to whether you'd have to replace the rear glass with RS glass, though. Honestly, I'd just put a plug in the hole. Wash tank still has to stay.
Edit: Probably should have refreshed the thread before I replied... looks like everything has been answered.

So....spring rates are something that Dallas, Marshall, and I may disagree on, but generally speaking I like to run higher rates in the rear. This is the part where Dallas will disagree: 800/800 may be a little soft on race tires, especially on the heavier X. I think the X I drove in 2011 had 800/1000 rates, and you can see the roll in the pics I posted.
The X is not like the 8/9 where the motion ration of the rear shock is slower than the front, so square spring rates work well on the X from what I have driven.

did not know that, thought motion ratios were similar

800 front is going to be pretty good. You might want to try a 900 at some point (assuming you're on big hoosiers) just to see if it's better.
800 rear spring sounds like a good starting point but you might find that something stiffer will get the car to rotate better. I wouldn't be afraid of trying anything in the 1000-1200 range.
Just curious, what spring rates do the track guys use? I suppose they do not use such high spring rates at the back. Having run my car at the track last year, I didn't think mine were too stiff or twitchy at all, except I changed my alignment slightly.
I also know that John Winchester used to run something like 700/900 f/r but seems like some STU guy are running 100-200 lbs more all around now. Perhaps, the tires and setup has evolved.

Do the 800 front 1000 rear spring rates apply to the 8/9 also?
I'm currently running 10k F 12k R on my 9 and love it. This was the aggressive setup recommendation by FA and their techs. This weekend coming up I will be able to give a better review. I've seen a few others here say go stiffer springs than my setup. I will follow up after this weekend autocross.
