Basically, IF your ECU throws this code, it is required to light up the SES light...

Yes lots of completely stock evos have this issue as well. My advice to you would be to seek a lemon law buyback, PLEASE, do it for the community and yourself. You will recover most of your $$$ and more if you have to go to court. In the meantime you'd just be driving it like normal... out of pocket expenses would simply be for court filing fees. Retain a lemon lawyer and they can give you all the details, and they work on a contingency basis. PM me for more info and see this thread about my suit:

Thanks - Everyone should DO this now if you haven't. Make sure to note if you have vibration and momentary loss of power that makes you scared and feel like you are going to crash.

I submitted a complaint a LONG while back. It was brought up when I was deposed by Mitsu's lawyer. I never saw any action because of it, but had more people done it, perhaps they would have used it as reason to investigate. Who knows.

This Shyt really pisses me off - MItsu has such a long history of cover ups they probably don't know how to deal straight with complaints. I have read about a hundred complaints between this and clutch / tranny complaints.

This should be enough for some kind of class action F'n suit!

Dudes, don't sell your car because you're getting the P0300 light. This light comes on for many reasons, especially if you have a piggy back setup. Your car still performs well and anybody who owns a EVO knows this is normal. DONT have the dealer reflash, or you will lose your custom flash - if you are not stock. Stock or not-stock throws this code all the time. The code isn't thrown during WOT, so you are not misfiring during a run. Usually it is thrown during idle or after you stall or kill the motor. Cam upgraded EVOs stall more often and throw these lights. Just reset, buy a $25 reset code reader, or pull both ECU fuses to reset.
If anything, complain to the dealer and have them give you a new set of coils or plug wires..
I have tried all gaps of plugs and still get it once in a while.
Main point - who cares if it doesn't effect WOT....cheers.

This is an old thread but so glad I ran a search. I had the p0300 code come up on my car about 1100 miles ago and then again yesterday on my '04 with only 14000 miles on it. I'm gonna call the dealer as soon as they open and get this fixed. God I love this forum. So useful...

probably the coil pack, they suck.

dealer flash helped mine. Haven't had that code in 1.5 years.

I don't even feel the misfire anymore.

I'm wondering what would happen once the aem ems goes in.

Auto Zone will check the SES code for free. You have to find out what code has been triggered.

cat delete will make the car throw the 02 sensor malfunction code. get a mechanical o2 fix and you will be good.
