Well I didn't read all through this post as I have to goto bed and get up early so I'll try to make my thoughts quick. When I first joined I was doing a googlr search on parts. Found what I was looking for here (evo8 valves, springs, retainers) So I signed up went to post that I would buy them and bam I could not post in the fs section... So I pm'd the guy and they were sold anyways. After that I made a few posts and started to read some topics. My thoughts are if you want to post FS adds to SELL stuff you should have to be on the site for a certain period of time. Not a certain amount of posts, myself it would take me about 2 years to get to a 50 post count, where some guys could easily do 200 in a day... I would keep it locked for sellers for say 6 months. If people want to scam and see they have to wait around for 6 months they'll move on to another site. If they are like me and looking to buy something, they'll just pm the seller. So basically change the post count to a time, it would cut back on all the unneeded garbage posts of people trying to make the count just so they can get to the fs section.

My 2 cents

well. you may want to read through the whole thread. quite a few people have some legitimate ideas and complaints.
i have well over 50 posts and still don't really agree with how people have to wait. i won't get into it again, seeing how i already listed my concerns above (you probably didn't read any of that, either).

I decided today to post because I truly need help upgrading my SST trans.
I also decided what the heck I may spend time in other areas to share what I can.
Kinda felt like today I might become part of the forum, not just use the forum.
Now, I wonder if peeps think I posted a bunch today just to sell items.
First, I do not intend to sell anything, at least not today or in near future.
Second, this thread showed some attitudes I also see at times in racing that stink.
Third, I believe scams exist everywhere that involve people; most peeps are good.
Fourth, I hope peeps use this forum as a service and enjoy as a hobby, not a life.
Last, I trust admins use cool fair judgement in changing any rules, esp for sales.
What if I was told today I deploy to Iraq and need to sell my car today ASAP? sol!
And I guess if person here has 500+ posts will never scam me? Riiiiight...
I'm turning this forum off for awhile; my rose colored glasses got too steamed!
your post makes far too much sense to be taken seriously by some of these people. :P LOL

In my point of view, I'm looking to buy upgrades and parts from people on the classifieds. I could care less whether I can list items for sale. I would just appreciate being able to ask questions and comment in the for sale thread.

Is there anyway to just let noobs do Q&A or comment in threads?

As far as posting up to get to 50 or 100, I would say I'm not going to waste the sites time trying to add information that could be searched for. Having come from DSM's, I'm really not dealing with the same animal so, I will leave posting good information to the people that know more than myself.

Thanks Evom for all the good informational threads!

I too am frustrated by this but understand it at the same time. I don't own an EVO, but EVO wheel fitment is Right on for my MR2. The problem is in upstate NY there are about 3 MR2 owners on the forums, so there were a lot more options for my by looking on the EVO forums. I made one purchase from a member here in NY and hopefully he will be a good reference if I want to buy something else.

Not that it really matters but it is a little frustrating when I ask a simple question about an item and I have to do it through a PM. It affects other members as well, they can't see the answers I get for the items listed... Just a thought.

In my case, I do alot of reading and searching for the answer I'm looking for verses making a ton of unnecessary posts to get my post numbers up.

I wanna thank all the guys that were nice enough to answer their Pm's and let me buy items from them.
I'm in the same boat. pm's seem to work fine for the most part, but sometimes they will have too many pm's and it's easier to keep track in the thread.

This statement is just ignorant. should I not have posted this post because I'm trying to get my post count up. anyways, I think posts in opened for sale threads should be allowed, but no new threads should be allowed to open unless certain restrictions are met.

i think the system in place now works well. I've caught numerous members spamming to 50.. just flag the post and leave a comment for the mods. The mods have always acted on this and made it right.
I just watched a guys posts go from 50 down to zero as he spammed his way to 50 just to post a for sale thread.

if more members were on the case then it would be a board of 100's of mods. very few spammers and scammers would get through.

We do indeed appreciate when members report posts of people potentially spamming to get to 50. We look at all reported posts and look at the member being reported by investigating their post history, etc. As you correctly state, we will delete posts of somebody post-whoring and 'reset' their post counts. If they've gone past 50, I will also remove their 'seller' rating, a 2 or 5 point infraction may result from this action. We do this because we like to hold all members accountable to the same set of rules (which are available, linked in my sig).

I really like the 50 post count, but why cant it be either 50 post count or having a join date for about a year or so?

Yeah the 50 post count is gay. I've been on here for a little while and can't sell anything unless I have the 50 posts. I can see why they have that rule. But people should just be more cautious when buying products on forums.
