i am a newer member and i personally dont mind the 50 post rule and i read a lot of threads that i dont even comment on because i am just trying to get some new info being that i just got my evo a month ago and want to some mild upgrades and so i just read the post for the help. That is what i use this forum for mostly anyways, that and making friends with evos in my area is cool too.

I feel that 50 posts is a reasonable post count. If you have dealt with Paypal for an extended period of time you will understand that you are NOT always protected. Paypal does what is good for them, not you. It is hard to get to the 50 post count, I agree with that. There are a lot more knowledgeable people then myself on these forums posting and replying to what others have posted. It's great to be able to read this information and spread it amongst the community. There are posts that are well written and thoroughly discussed that an I feel that if I would simply chime in and say "he's right" or "+1" that it would be simply overkill and a waste of a post. I don't believe there really is an easy way to get 50 posts, and that's the reason why a 50 post count to the FS section was placed. I honestly don't feel that there should be a time limit option. It should only rely on post count. If I were going to try to scam someone, I wouldn't mind waiting 6 months to do so. I can simply create an account and troll some other forums. I was in the same situation that a lot people have been in, like 10 posts and I had (have) a lot of stuff that I would like to sell. Nothing to do but to find a post and contribute in some way.

^^^well said.. I didnt mind the 50 post rule it was just that you can find alot of good things on this forum for sale as opposed(sp?) to buying it from an online website. and i know everyone can agree that getting new parts for your car is awsome. but i respect the rules and why the moderators put them there.

On other forums, replies with two or three words just to build up you're post count won't be tollerated.

I have no idea why some one who wants to be a member of this forum, would rush to get into the FS, unless they were up to no good.

First of all, i like the idea of 100...

Secondly, i dont agree with the rushing to 50.

I was one of those members. that had to rush to 50, because my old account (Evo06se) was disabled, for NO REASON.

I bought a car that needed some parts and i wanted to get them asap, so i can drive it. Does that mean "im up to no good"?

No, but i think if there should be some kind of vouching system, if i have a good friend that is on EvoM and i just joined, he can vouch for me in the FS section.

The post count rule is excessive, 25 posts should be it.
I think people should be able to buy a membership and start selling right off the bat. I was banned for "post whoring" simply because i got to 50 too soon. Sure I was posting more than usual but not all of it was trash.
Why did I want to post in the FS section so soon? I had spent ~$60K w/ vendors of this forum and needed to get rid of some old parts to recoup. If spending that much money with vendors is not contributing to the site IDK what is.
If you are afraid of getting scammed do not buy stuff off the forums, or only purchase in person with cash. Simple.

Well I haven't been on here for that long but every forum I ever sign up on usually has a 50 post minimum. I think its helpful because random people just sign up and post their **** for sell. Its gets annoying.

Although I feel its kinda sucks towards the FS threads. If somebody has something for sell and I want to ask them a question about it, I have to pm them. Who knows maybe somebody else already asked the question and didn't' have the 50 posts either. Does that make any sense?

Let's just say...if you vouch for A guy and if this A guy scam me...would you cover everything? IMO, business has to be between buyer and seller. Shouldn't even bother bring a third person in the business just because you or I can not post on sale thread untill hit some amount of posts.

I was happy to find this thread. It seems to be full of information and nice to see the mods contributing. An no arguing!

I have been on this forum for not a long time but long enough to see ppl get scammed and get scammed myself. While I understand there are plent of legitimate people on here with under 50 posts that would like to sell parts, to me this post limit is not unreasonable. It does not take much time to reach 50 if you are an active member and contribute useful information. I do not post (usually) unless it contributes to the discussion at hand. People that post ***** just to reach 50 posts should be banned. This is why I do all my buying in selling so each party feels comfortable. Also, I make sure to contact the buyer and or seller via phone so they have my contact information.

To me it seems reasonable to have some sort of system like paypal where you need to register. That way, if you scam someone, the buyer/selle/mods have a way to contact you or file a formal report. It seems unfair that someone can needlessly scam someone hiding behind a username without any way of being held accountable.

The first item I sold on this forum was a set of tires to a member in cali (I believe). The buyer sent me an envelope full of cash. I could have esily taken that money without regard. however that is not the type of person I am. I understand that not everyone shares my values, but there should be some way to track down the scammer via IP address or registration. Okay, end stream, just my thoughts.

Ummm....what are you talking about? That user name is active, has no infractions, and has 0 posts.... How could you possibly have to rush to 50 when you had 0 in the first place, and it's OUR fault?

I could see if you forgot your password or something, but neither of your 2 accounts has ever been banned. I'd merge them together for you, but as I said, the original has 0 posts in the 1 1/2 years it was active..

Are you sure you're remembering correctly? I just checked your infractions. You have one warning (warnings do not result in points nor banning a member). You do have one infraction for posting inappropriate content. Nothing for post whoring and no ban. I just want to be clear about your accusation.

I've been on here for a little while now, but I simply read the threads and tend not to post much, I think maybe a time restriction would better beat down the worthless posters as opposed to a post count?

We've currently got a one/two punch. It's both 60 days membership AND 50 legitimate posts
