Noobs and the quest for 50 posts
I am nuts or have we just recently been INVADED by members posting IRRELEVANT posts just to reach 50 posts and get into the FS section?
While it may not concern me too much, it kinda worries me that some of these posters may be looking to scam in the FS section.
I have seen this time and time again on other forums.....
Sorry, thread is more of a damn rant than anything.

I have an item forsale, that i need to sell quick as my cars in the garage gettin its motor put together and i need money. Now i find it kinda pain in the *** to pretty much read a bunch of threads to actualy replay/comment with something that makes sense just so i can put something up for sale, but it is wat it is.

The 50 post thing kinda bothered me since I had 2 totalled Evos and bought them back and needed to sell this stuff so I could go n buy another one...I mostly posted in the regional forums..then I realized that they werent counting lol so I had to broaden my posts to other areas of interest. It doesnt matter what u do u cant stop ppl from scamming in the for sale sections..they do or they dont..I just dont think it having a post cut off is important or proves anything to sell things. If u wanna sell Evo stuff this is the place to do it. Should be free to anyone that has things to sell. U could need parts and the person who has em doesnt have enough posts to sell it to u... that kinda sux.
For every member that wants the post limit raised there are many that do not.
We look to safeguard our members from various illegal activities by placing these rules in effect.
Who knows if you been watching the forum for years? We dont base the integrity of our members by speculation. We base it on members contributions to the forum.

I have to agree with the 50 post thing is kinda annoying. I am mainly a lurker but plan on buying an evo soon and would like to be able to post in FS when Im ready to pull the trigger. I sit at a computer all day so can find places where my comments arent completely useless but for someone that isnt at a comp alot I would imagine it would be an even bigger pain.
To bad there cant be some sort of registration or sign-up for the for sale section. Just an idea.

Requiring 50 posts to post in the Marketplace is stupid. I have been a watchful member for almost 2 years. Why make posting stuff for sale so hard? I was going to post that I am interested in selling my xx, since there seemed to be some interest, but I guess this is the wrong section for that.
Well I guess I am 1 closer now, that is if the site post counter even worked

OMFG..... the Techno Viking still lives!!!!!
I think the 50 post count is fair.. I didn't come here to sell anything or scam people.. I am here for the fact that Evos are one of my favorite cars and when I decide to buy one come spring time I want to have some knowledge of them.. If I comment into a thread it's because i'm interested in what the poster has to say or compliment them on their car.... You wont be seeing me selling anything whether I have 51 posts or 5100 posts... I'm here cause i'm interested.. I understand how you guys feel though.....

Possible add an ip blocker or something of that nature so you cant make more than 1 account on each ip. Just my .02
Here is my thing. If you sign up for this forum it usually means you just bought an evo.Chances are that you want to buy stuff. You probably don't have any extra parts to sell.It looks fishy when noobs want to sell parts and have a rapid post count.like 10 post a day or something.I think 50 post 60 days is a good way to weed scammers out.
Personally I am undecided on the 50 post rule. I've been a member of several car forums over the years, this one since september (when I finally got an evo). The rule has been enforced on many sites and part of me understands why. However, when selling something using paypal, the buyer and seller are somewhat protected up to a certain amount. Not to mention you can always just use better judgement when buying or selling. I spend most of my time just reading threads and learning more about the car from senior members. I try NOT to post ***** with useless babble therefore I still dont have 50 posts. It kinda sucks since there were parts on the car when I bought it that I would have liked to sell from day 1. I feel there should be some leeway. Maybe new members could sell things up to $50 for example? That would help build credibility and feedback for new members. Not to mention how much it may help new members to build relationships with other people on the forum and get to be more well known. Just some ideas from a fairly new member
Posts count doesn't matter, they wants to scam they will. Other forum that I stayed, they required to post up the picture that has their username and acual date with the item that they sells(only private).
Evom here,
I've saw many for sale threads that does NOT even have a picture or seller posted it up few days later.

I think that the 50 post 60 day rule is good, but I would even go one step further and make it required to post in legit discussion areas to get counts toward your posts.
Main reason being is that anyone can view the FS thread. And if someone is looking for a part you can PM them that you have it. It is that easy. I think the days should be at least 90, 50-100 posts, and in legit areas of discussion. This would ensure people are being ative members and contributing to conversation. Moderators could run a program to scan posts for the words/abbreviations for "off-topic" posts and remove those from the count of the member. Would require a little investment for the program but it could easily be done!

I posted these thoughts on the voting thread, but this one seems to have more traffic so I'll chime in...
My feelings on the matter are that I really don't like to post unless I've got something of worth to say on a topic...
I've got a couple of the "Hey your car looks nice" posts when I've seen something that deserves it but part of experience is time, and if you're new to the forums you should be reading up before you post...
And since for the most part if someone posts a question that's already been answered they get jumped on (not debating that because searching is good, but it just means that there is 1 more possible post taken away), where is the chance for those members to get 100 posts aside from the 'filler' posts...
So you're asking people to gain experience before they post in the FS threads, but aren't encouraging them to post up questions as they try and get that experience...
I don't really care since I'm about at the 100 marker anyways, but it just seems a bit off to me...
50 is reasonable to make in a manageable amount of time 100, not so much...
