Noobs and the quest for 50 posts
I am also a member on socalevo. They count a full post on any post that has more that 70 characters in the post. 3 word replies do not count as a post. They should do the same thing here.
Remember people, we are all GUEST here. This is some one else house. We are just visiting here. I have been here almost 5 years( wow time flys) with only 120 post. Yea I sell things but also people are cheap so I do not know why you are in a hurry to sell anything. I am glad they have rules... they protect us.

We have these rules to protect you guys not inconvenience you.
It may at times, but in the big picture i feel it prevents more harm than it creates.
I understand trying to ween out the spammers, but it makes it hard for new members like me to try and buy a evo. I am buying a evo in a little over a week and things would be much easier if I could put a wtb thread. I think it should be 25 post.
I live in Grenada but often ship stuff to my freight forwarder in Miami to get here. What I'm trying to say is I would not buy from a member with few posts and low or "0" sales ratings. If I were to get scammed it would be next to impossible to get back my money.
A reasonable post count and sales rating does not ensure that you will not be scammed, but it does paint a pretty good picture of who you're dealing with, and that makes me more comfortable as a consumer.
I only recently got to 50 and I've been here since '05.

I like the idea of a certain time period + 25 posts to sell, or 50 posts with half the time period, or 100 posts for the first month. That should really show who the post ****** are, but allow people like me who've been a member for a while and have very few posts to post in the for sale threads.
what about when a new member reaches the 50 post, a moderator should check his posting history before it gets approved, to make sure that person wasnt trying to reach that count just for that reason. this way all post ****** will be caught.
PS also register with evom giving all details example, name, phone, address, work phone etc., this will certainly filter out all bad guys, this info will only be available to evom incase a bad deal happens.
i have all the ideas lol, sometimes they make sence, sometimes they dont. you tell me what you think.

I like the idea of giving EVOm more info, but a lot of guys are pumped to get to 50 posts because they just joined and want to sell a part or whatever. There is nothing wrong with that. What if they make all 50 posts in 1 day... as long as they're not bull**** bumps and are legit posts i don't see what the problem is. Thats just me. But the more info thing is a great idea might help a lot of people not get scammed
Can the site limit the posting of new FS section posts but not responses? One thing that frustrated the living crap out of me before i had 50 posts is that I couldn't even respond to people in the FS section.
As far as having items for sale, I thought the timing was pretty good because by the time I even had anything to sell I had about 50 posts on the forum. Still haven't sold any of my parts yet, btw.

My definition of a "post *****" is in no way relevant to your words whatsoever. Do you just want less members on the forum? I think if the minimum post count were to go to 100, the "prevention" of new members joining the forum will be even more effective. It really does seem like this forum does not like new members?? I suppose due to the nature of the "Evo", there may be a lot of youngsters that aren't desireable I suppose.
Still trying to figure this place out I guess.

Perfect example: this evening I found a member post whoring to 50. I called him on it and this was the exchange:
He asked what the infraction meant, I then told him. His reply was :
"ok thank you and again i apologize its just hard to get to 50 post lol "
He was caught, manned up to it, and apologized. He could have pulled the "how do you know I was whoring, etc, etc" crap, but he didn't and there is no hard feelings.
The moral of the story is simple: You're a guest here and we respect every member. We just simply ask that as a guest, you respect our rules.

I'm pretty fusturated with this rule as well. I've been a member here since 2007 however I don't post here very often. I found something I was interested in on the classified section and couldn't post... So I PM'ed him. Made the transaction, he sent me 80% of my parts and now I can't get a response from him for the other 20%. I see him on here selling things... I'm just trying to post on his threads to let members be aware that I am having a problem with him.... In a way, just trying to help other evom members out...
Should I just start whoring it up to get my 50 posts?

Surely if you want to "help out", you could post up your experience in the scam alert forum...
That is not advisable. You've made 14 total posts in 26 months....I can't imagine how you'd be 'frustrated', your last posts before this one were 2 years ago...
I hate how some members are post whoring just to get their counter up. They have no clue what they are talking about and keep posting in the same threads over and over. Some members have gone from 0-500 post in a couple of weeks.

IMO, restricting the post count to specific forums has only worsened the matter.
The post rules are usually more of a hassle for legitimate users than they are for "scammers," who can just as easily put up 50 stupid posts and clutter the boards to sell 10 dollar o2 housings.
Unless I'm off, it seems to me that the reason for the post rule is to try to avoid getting more scammers or spammers on the forums. I believe there are ways to ensure that sellers are legit, but it'd require more work from the mods. As I understand it, this is all voluntary for them as it were. Its a sticky mess...
In a perfect world, your first sales made on the forums would be moderated sales. It's possible, there a number of ways to accomplish this, but its not going to please everyone all the time... so how much better is it really? I dunno. Who's to say that the increase in posts has anything to do with counts or sales anyway? blargh.
