I think the minimum 15 posts rule for posting FS items should be modified.

Maybe the site is too big to do this with, but can't you warn people to desist if they are spotted posting useless crap to get their post count up so they can sell? I am a mod on an Australian evo forum and we can do this, obviously it prevents dilution of good threads with useless posts, and forces people to meaningfully contribute and show their personalities a little more before getting selling privileges. Selling not allowed until members reach a certain status and this is done manually after they reach a certain contribution level (usually circa 100 posts).

Some of you think 15 is enough or even too many, but look at how many scammers there are on this site. It's ridiculous, I'd never feel comfortable buying from anyone unless I knew them personally since it's simply so easy to sell any lowlife can qualify.

Honestly, I don't mind the 15 post count minimum. If it needs to be increased it would be fine. I've been a member on other forums with an positive reputation, and it's a pure shame that so many are out to scam.

I am also a member on other forums and on one of them there is a 50 count minimum. They also review you posts to make sure they are legitimate posts as well. I havent quite figured out how they do it on this site. Not sure how they determine if a post conts tward your 15 or not?

Im sure anyone that actually even READS, should have some information where it would answer someone else's question at some point. And it doesn't stop you from posting your opinion. Not every thread is technical.

Participate and dont look like some random stranger coming in here trying to scam a sale, and you wont have issue's posting in the FS thread.

If you want a quick sale, goto ebay and post all you want.

I'm a used car sales man, and I am running into a roadblock with the 15 post /15 day rule.

I get all sorts of rare/unique/underserved imports, but very infrequently do we see any Evos, let alone an 05 Evo 8 with 25k miles on it.

I would like a way to credential myself immediately. If it means I have to pay out of pocket, so be it. With a car like an Evo, it's going to sell as soon as the people at my company get around to posting pictures and full info on the internet. I am trying to beat everyone to the punch by posting info/pics on a forum like this myself. This forum is *the place to go*, and so far I am the only one trying to use it as a resource.

Admins, if there is something I can do-- please let me know, ASAP!

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

We consider your participation in our community (15 posts) a fair trade for access to the Marketplace. If you would like to bypass the minimum requirements, please contact the Internet Brands advertising sales team via the link below. They may have a package that makes sense for you and your business. Kindly note we do not allow unregistered commercial links or signatures and yours have been removed until/if you become a vendor. Thanks.

Thank you for the response, Speedlimit.

Unfortunately, since I would be paying out of pocket, a commercial advertising package would be out of my budget. I've pushed for other types of advertising in the past, but (assuming they take my advice), that too is a very long process.

I was hoping maybe a paid site membership or something like that would suffice.

I do appreciate you presenting the above option, and thanks again for your quick response.

Your comment reads... 'I'm not trustworthy with sales transactions'... because I dont waste my time or breath on posting useless banter? There's folks who choose their words wisely and they should not be penalized for reading more and posting less. I think sales privileges should be considered on a case by case basis / based on time. There should be no penalty for reading more and posting less.

Sadly, I've seen the most trusted, respected, and longest standing members get in a pinch and take advantage of their status. Mr. Platinum Member with 10,000 posts, been around for years, walks with 30 or 40 grand? It should be a time thing. Time and patience weeds out FNG's. BUT, you still have to look out for that guy you know... Buyer Beware!

Even the 15 posts / 2 weeks membership does a fairly good job of convincing scammers to avoid the site. Either system would be better than allowing someone to create an account and begin selling immediately.
I think it should be 6 months and 2 vouchers from know members. Lots of scammers out there.

I just got scammed again on here, its happened a few times to me now. I agree it should require more post, it use to be 50. And I never had any problems back then, at least not with people just out right not sending items.

I reckon a bit longer than 15 days would be better, 30, maybe 60? I've seen a few posts/threads asking about post counts and why they can't post in the marketplace from very new members. I think the 15 post count would work better if it was monitored a bit closer, like this maybe:

Member passes predetermined time and post requirements
Member attempts to post FS thread and receives this message: Thanks for posting a FS thread on EvoM! Each member's first FS thread needs to be approved by a mod/admin. You will receive a PM within 24/48 hours about your FS thread's approval/decline status. If your thread is approved it will be posted in the FS section right away. If your thread is declined we will advise what more you need to do via your PM. Thanks for browsing EvoM, have a choice day.
A mod/admin will review the member's thread and posts, checking for post whoring. If the member checks out then they will have permission to post in the FS section without being checked again. If they whored their way to 15 posts or their thread isn't up to scratch then decline their thread and advise why and what they need to do to be approved.

This could also enable you to restrict access to the FS section to members who have a history of scamming/poor sales feedback and those who repeatedly post FS threads that don't comply with EvoM rules.

MR2 board has a similar setup for new members and their first post (not actually for FS threads). There, your first post is scrutinized by an admin and if it's all good then they approve you and you have permission to post as you please. If you need an extra Mod to take care of FS thread approvals, I will volunteer

Honestly it rustles my jimmies when people register here to sell things. This isn't ebay or Craigslist is it?

Hi and thank you for the suggestion. The number of daily new posts in the classifieds really makes it impossible to review in a timely manner using the moderation queue.
