There is a couple car clubs around but IMO none of them are worth joining. I know the guys from Jacksonville get together but thats an hour drive for me. I would be interested in meeting up and all that if we can get enough people to show up. I know of 2 other guys with Evos in the area and I seen a couple more but never had time to talk to them.

I got my X in PA, where Im from, because the Jacksonville dealership wanted almost $3000 more for the same exact car and told me they would let me test drive it around their lot if I was serious about buying it from them. The one back home let me test drive it even after I forgot to bring my license with me(just got home from Iraq, wasnt used to carrying it all the time).
I am MALS, and my wife is with VMA AW 242. We will both be going to MALS in Cherry Point.

Thanks to both of you for your comments on Jacksonville stealership. I just got my quote back, and they wanted just under 38k for the WW GSR with SSS and aero. I told them no thanks. I will be flying into florida from here (that is my place of residence) and buying one there and driving it back. While I am there i can get FL registered so that I don't have yearly inspections and I can tint all my windows like i had on my Prelude SH in cherry point.

I will be looking to start a club then when I get there, not only will it be a crap load of fun for me, but it will look good on fit reps for charity work

I will let you know this week when i get my web orders and we can discuss it further if you want.

Thanks again guys.

FL represent!!

What part of FL?? I'm from Brevard County!

Good luck on any car club things man not a whole lot of people are into that sort of thing. I don't mind hanging out with friends and doing barbecues and stuff, but putting a name on it makes it a bit too serious. I hosted the UFC fight Saturday night with a bunch of my car guy buddies and hit up a barbecue with most of the same people yesterday. All of them are into car and some have respectably fast cars, but you'll never hear any of them admitting to ever wanting to be apart of a club.

Not trying to knock your idea. If you want to get into something like that then best of luck to you. But from my experience legitimate car guys don't usually attach themselves to any group with a name. I wouldn't purely because say one person in that group does something stupid and people can see the name of said club they will think the rest of the group are *******s (which usually turns out to be true unfortunately).

Also 99% of "club" members I've seen or met are douchebags and/or ricers.

Good luck with finding the car you want man. I waited almost 4 months of searching before I found the one I wanted for the price I wanted.

o i hear ya. I am 25 with a wife and a kid so i am not trying to start a "fast and furious" club lol. I am more looking to get a good group of peeps together that wouldn't mind cruising 25 miles or so to a chill spot and BBQ'n or dyno'n or whatever 1 time a month.

Something cool the NTEC (dallas Tx club) does is they have "noob modding days" where they all just get together and bring all their tools and help each other put on new mods that have been stacking up in their garages. This brings extra hands and extra knowledge to the modding.

Hell i hadn't even thought of adding a name to it, but now that i think of it if we had sponsored charity events i guess we would have to have one....anyways like i said i totally hear ya on what you were saying about ricer douches...

Forgot to respond to this part, my parents live in Tallahassee. I don't claim being from FL though, only lived there about a year. I claim tx I lived there the longest.

We use to do this here as well at my place in Fayetteville, but things have evolved since those days and we now have shops and are sponsors on these boards lol. We now have local to us some great tuning options, engine building options and flat out outstanding support. Anything you need evo related can be handled without you driving more than 2 hrs and if things can be arranged, we can even come to you in some instances.

The more I read the more your intentions seem good instead of what I originally thought of the idea.

Unfortunately groups tend to bring the stupid out in people. There is usually a decent sized group of people I hang out with (lots of decently fast F-Bodies), but only one person that I hang out with regularly has an Evo. It sucks, but a lot of the Evo guys I've met around here have turned out to be d*cks. No one on here that I know of, but random guys I've ran into out in Jville. So I definitely don't go out of my way to talk to new Evo owners. If they turn out to be cool....cool. Most leave me disappointed. Not a whole lot of comradery for non EvoM Evo folks here.

And I agree I like having friends not afraid to get their hands dirty and having people bring their modding knowledge. Especially on vehicles that are not their own. That's why I have an STi torn apart in my garage right now. I know that the owner would be down no matter what to help me with anything I had to do on my own car so me and him pulled his motor in a day. Luckily he had the Subaru knowledge because I've never spent any extensive time with Subaru's so the way it was setup was a bit different than I'm used to. Exhaust manifolds on the bottom of the engine is a new one for me.

I dunno about Cherry Point, but there are far more ricers than legitimate car guys in Jacksonville. Like WAAAAAAY more. And it's any car you can think of. There is a guy in the area with a LS1 Trans-Am (not sure if it's a WS-6 although what he did makes it not matter anyway) on like 22's with Lamborghini doors.

Over here at Cherry Point its the same way. A lot of ricers and very few legitimate car guys. I know some people here that have some quick cars. But most are ricers or guys with mustangs or camaros and few trans am's, that think their cars are the fastest thing around. I like proven them other wise. lol

No kidding?? Palm Bay is big as hell though so unless you're from my area and age group we may never have ran into each other there!

I went to Bayside High school. I'm 26. I was apart of the first graduating class at that school. Otherwise my *** would have been at Palm Bay High (which always confused me since it was in Melbourne).

That APAGIN or whatever his name is? I know there is an AMSOIL dealer back in Brevard. I need to order tranny fluid tonight or tomorrow.

Same here. I've been taking down all the FBody guys I've met. I need to get my hands on that ball bearing for my Hallman as I have a race with a cammed and blah blah blah Camaro SS soon.

Almost all quoted above is because they are Marines....and it is those that give us a bad name. But yeah my ideas/intensions are good. I just want a group of "grown folk" (attitude not age, but age more than welcome too ) to kick it and work on cars, get down on some community relation goodness, and roll together to stuff like HIN or stuff like posted by force-fed above.

REALLY not looking for a bunch of tool bag "thugs" or whatever to go really fast on the interstate and get into wrecks and tickets with.....

Check out the NTEC thread (on this forum) they are a really good group of people that set an example for a real "car club" for enthusiasts and others looking to learn more about their cars (like me).

This will be my first evo (coming from a prelude SH stock, and an RX-7 pushing about 300bhp) and also the first car that i will completely mod myself. My RX-7 was modded nicely, but was already done, all i did was some electrical repairs and restored the interior and sold it for a large profit. Anyways looking forward to meeting some level headed Marines and just some car enthusiasts.
