Because there is always a vested interest in another shop negative marketing anyone but themselves as they are a "for profit business". Alex post came across to me from a sales pitchy tone as most every other time I read him mention bold perf.

There are literally at least 75 clutch options for the Evo from various manufacturers, each with different pressure plate configurations, push, pull-type, clamping load etc, then onto the discs. Single, disc, twin discs, triple discs, organic, cerametallic, sintered iron, carbon/steel, carbon carbon, kevlar, composite and so on.

ACT clutches have at least 16 Evo clutch combinations last I checked so for someone to say "my clutch lasted XX years" adds no value to the conversation without mentioning the brand, model, disc type, pressure plate clamping force so that it can be taken into consideration.

The tilton Carbon/Carbon twin disc costs $5,200.00 without install and fluids and won't last a year before it needs overhauling. How pissed would you be then?

Alex's lasted about 2.5 years, not "months" like you mention and it is about right on par for a cerametallic puck type clutch on an Evo that is used 12-15k/yr with much city driving.

Alex is promoting BOLD because of his personal experience with their service, not because of any vested interest. From my dealings with Mark today, I can see why. Stand up guys over there. He's not negatively promoting any shop, as he kept their names out of it. From where I'm sitting you seem way to interested in this, so what's your connection? Alex may not be the most tech savvy guy on the forums, but 30k from a mild performance clutch on a mildly tuned street car, come on.

Agreed. I tried multiple shops around Tampa and had some bad experiences with a few well-known ones. Seems kinda ignorant to say that its the driver's own fault and his false expectations instead of putting some responsibility on the shop. It's like telling me that it was all my fault that my car, when I bought it, was overboosting and hitting limp mode when it turns out that some dumb*** shop had welded the O2 dump shut. That's proof that there are questionable shops out there that don't know what the hell they're doing. As for sounding like a sales pitch, Alex is a passionate guy who speaks well of those who treat him right (as do most people). I'll gladly promote Bold Performance all day long because of their exceptional customer service and outstanding work. Is that a sales pitch? I don't get commission for promoting them. It's a customer testimonial. Good shops earn loyal customers. And those customers spread the word of their experiences.

To Everyone...

Thank you for understanding my position. I have been far too busy outside the internet to entertain this conversation as immediately as I would have liked to.

Please take special notice that I am not getting any commission from BOLD Performance. I am not an employee (obviously... who'd hire a non-tech savvy person to work in a performance shop LOL). I do not get a bonus for people referred. Heck, I don't even get a thank you card in the mail. Nor do I expect any of these things. I promote good people and good business.

I read someone question your interest in my words. I often thought about that since my last post. Then I answered myself. Whether you know this guy or not, your mission is to debunk people who falsely accuse other with no provocation. The reason you may think this about me is because I refuse to throw the name of this shop to the wolves.

You can't even begin to imagine how many people wished me to convey his name on other public forums. I have my standards... so I won't do it. I will, however, share his name with you IN PERSON. I don't talk about personality. I just talk about actions.

Take Michael Jordan, for example (Loosely, please. I am not an expert on him. I just chose the name because I know some and everyone knows the name). Michael Jordan, in his PRIME, was one unstoppable machine. Off court, I heard his personality was not the greatest. However, team owners would have loved to sign him if he ever considered leaving the Bulls. His performance trumps his attitude when it comes to his profession.

This guy, however, is NO MICHAEL JORDAN. His attitude was definitely something worth an entirely DIFFERENT conversation... but his work? He has a handful of cars that their owners are loyal to him. On those cars, he dedicates his valiant efforts. All others can tell you war stories about the shady things he has done. Many others.

I think you have the wrong idea about me. So I propose this... come meet me in person. I will even pay for your dinner as I answer any questions you might have. I am not some young kid who's mama bought him an Evo. I am not some guy that got lucky and stumbled upon an Evo dirt cheap. Blood, sweat, and tears as I saved up all money from a deployment to Iraq. Years of research to find someone who will import it for me.

So, you are on the Tampa Area Threads... maybe you are either in Tampa Bay or somewhere nearby. Take me up on my offer. Meet me in person and see for yourself. I am not a bad guy and I don't hate anybody. Just because this guy is on my S-list, doesn't mean I hate him either. He will just never get any business or referrals from me. Nothing personal. Just business.

Its easy to question someone you have never met... or someone you may have met, but choose to engage in debate online. That's because people can move full steam ahead when they don't have to look at their opponent. I aim to win you over with a positive outlook towards life and an overall trust in the human race. I believe that even the most terrible person can have some good within them.

As far as I am concerned, this conversation is over from my end. I refuse to defend myself or my actions to someone who doesn't know me. I have other things I could be doing (like the USF meet tonight, a bachelor party tomorrow, FAST6 cruise, and many other FUN things).

Get to know me and my plight. You will then understand. Until then, have a HAPPY FRIDAY and a GROOVY WEEKEND!

It's really sad that people on these forums act like gurus.
It's pretty sickening to go and actually read the bs that goes around. Obviously this guy was taken a specific stance to defend the shop in question. Maybe he works there being the shop is in Orlando and so is he (anarchy).
Alex I really don't think you need to do anything but continue being you. It's great that u take the initiative to share you genuine experiences with the masses. Everyone wants to always here what shop you go to and/or this shop is great but it's really seldom you find a bad review. And for that I thank you. Regardless if you reveal the name is irrelevant, what is more important is that by sharing u might have made someone think twice about where they are going to go to take care of there business. Granted we all cannot be as all knowing as anarchy nor have the luxury of time to make a feeble attempt to troll on you, thank god what a waste of time !!
Anarchy if you read this post I invite you to try something, it's called sex.. Now don't get all excited and tell me there are 46838282 positions in the kama sutra, I'm just telling u to find something else to do constructively rather than trying to take a dump on my buddy's thread.

I went to the same guy he did with my new evoX to have installed an act cera 6 puck, Hd pressure plate and a Street light fly.i had to return the next day to retrieve my plastic tray (the one that keeps air out from under the car and also directs what air that does enter, to my brakes and diff) I brushed that aside. After driving 1,400 miles the clutch blistered. No racing no spirited driving and i have had a long history of long lasting clutches. I called to explain and offered that he remove the trans and inspect the clutch and fly in my presence if it was his mistake he should fix it or Act, if it was driver error then i would pay. Simple enough. He declined so i did what i didnt feel like doing in the first place and removed it myself in my garage ( pain in the **** without a lift) i found the exhaust bolt missing ( he said it vibrated loose). It was removed to remove one of the bolts to the t sheld on the diff. Also the shifter cable plate on top of the trans was missing ( he offered vibration as the cause again). After removing the transmission, found the grade 5 bold that "vibrated" out of my shifter cable plate, in my pressure plate (which take grade 10.9 bolts for a reason) doesn't stop there. My ACT street light flywheel....... not there. Instead there was an oem plate, not even mine. I sent a picture to him from three angles and he said he couldn't determine if it was an act light or not -_▪ seriously. I sent the clutch and fly to ACT directly for rebuild of the pressure plate and new disk. They inspected the bolts, plate, presure, and came the the same conclusion. The grade five was weak and caused the issue from heat and stretching. I damn near kicked the door in demanding my flywheel i paid for as he tried playing dumb i got the fly i paid for and never returned. The guy didnt expect me to know my way around a dsm (15 yrs exp) and took me not wanting to change my clutch out on my back ( the annoying way) on my brand new evolution as a sign to take advantage of. Thanks to the guys at ACT for standing behind their product an assisting me with the inspection of the issue this "guy" caused. Their are far too many horror stories from this guy to be coincidence. Also Bold is very down to earth and just by meeting him i can vouch for the integrity of the shop.

well we dont have a fb page for evo owners on macdill but we have i4evo which is a facebook page for all local area evos, to include sorrounding areas. Alex(hisevo7) is the creator and operator. He's very much plugged into the local scene so he would be a good guy to contact if you had any questions about local evo/car activity.

Hope to meet you in person whenever you move down!

Thanks for the info! I noticed on a E85 website it says there is a station on Macdill. Is that station open to whomever (People with military ID) or is that private for military/government vehicles only?

Yeah that pump is only for gov's. There are a few Thortons that have popped up in the Tampa/Brandon area though and they carry e-85 so its easy to get some locally. I myself have a station 5 minutes from my house so I'm going to be taking advantage and getting a dual map tune in a couple of weeks.
