hey, don't feel bad, my first run with a catback and K&N was 14.3xx @ 96.xx mph.... I wish I had got a 14.1..... You can probably improve markedly with a MBC & SAFC. Have George tune that SAFC and check to make sure you aree not knocking a lot. That will make you car slowdown...Originally posted by Event-Horizon

Can someone please explain to me why the commerce track is "slower" than other tracks in the US? Why are there other stock or nearly stock EVO's running low 13's or in some cases high 12's? I was only able to get a 14.413 lastnight. I know I could have done better.

60' 2.082 <-- is this making me slow?
330 5.959
1/8 9.226
MPH 75.90
1000 12.057
1/4 14.413
MPH 95.66
This was my best run for the night. I must not be launching right. I normally rev to about 5000rpms and let the clutch out a bit slower than "dropping" it. I also shift around 6800-6900rpms. My car is also holding boost without any problems. I checked the peak function and I hit 1.36 (19.73psi) on the track.
Let me know what you guys think.

There are probably (4) 10ths of a second to be found in your 60' times..... I'd guess with bit more practice and more aggressive shifting you could find another 10th or so. Otherwise, this seems in line with what I experienced with my car Originally posted by Event-Horizon

Either the Commerce dragstrip is unusually slow or some of us got the "slow" EVOs......
I'd guess that with a MBC, intake and exhaust you can probably get a bit quicker and faster. You could be in the 13s already with better driving. I'd be careful though, make sure everything is right with your car and that it's not knocking and pulling timing like mine was.....

Was your car knocking and pulling timing from the factory? What was wrong and what did you have to do to fix it?
Well, going to this Horsepower estimator website I put in these numbers:
Vehicle weight: 3400 lbs (3240 curb weight + 160lb driver)
1/4-mile ET: 14.413
1/4-mile MPH: 95.66
These entries give me:
Result using ET method: 224.44HP
Result using MPH method: 232.28HP
Assumming 20% drivetrain loss and averaging the two estimated HP numbers (228.36HP) this would give me an estimated crank HP of 274.032HP. So maybe everything is checking out for me

Don't feel bad. It is a fact that the track is even slower on Friday nights that on Saturday. Last night my quickest et was 13.617 and my fastest mph was 101.11.
When I ran on Saturday earlier this year with almost identical temps during the day, I ran a 13.266 et and my fastest mph that day was 105.25. I have not even got close on Friday nights.
I do spin more on Friday nights than I did the Saturday I ran.

The problem with my car was apparently that the cams were off by one tooth at the crankshaft from the factory. George found this while installing the HKS cams & cam gears in my car. After the new cam install, the car no longer knock when the timing is advanced.....Originally posted by Event-Horizon

You might be right with those calculations, although it's possible that many EVOs come from the factory with considerably more power than the 274 HP advertised. Unfortunately, others appear to be far less powerful. I guess it's the legendary
quality...

Way to go! BTW, when are you gonna hook me up with the tire guy? I'm sure anxious to get my hands on a set of Toyo T1S Proxes
Specially at the prices you told me Account Disabled
Silver when you going to run your car? I see you left again from Boost Solution in the loaner car? Is it STILL not ready? It's been 2-3 weeks?

Yeah Ryan, George is allright. Not many shops will give you a loaner car while they work on yours Originally posted by 2slowevo

I guess If I ever stop adding more mods to the car I'll get it back sooner
I'm looking forward to running it at the dragstrip one of these days. Meantime, George needs to finish what I asked for and fine tune the AEM to accomodate the lastest mods. No point in rushing something out before it's done. How did you do Friday night? I hope you guys had a lot of fun. I wish I could have joined you there. BTW, what's up with the new screen name? I thought Hamstercat was kinda cute

Great time, Todd! I suppose that you would have been in the 12s on a "faster" track. With my mods, I thought for sure I would be in the 12s, but I have a few things to work on to achieve that. I gotta get a better clutch!!! (slipping on launch and 1st to 2nd gear change)... and a leaky 1G BOV (bleeding off air at anything over 0.6 BAR).Originally posted by Toddevo 8

After 3 runs, my car could only manage 13.5 @ 104... 93 pump gas... only holding 1.1BAR to redline... crappy launching!
It was GREAT meeting you guys out there. We HAVE to do that again!
