Hi Chad,

UK customers like myself are patiently waiting for the release of the CBRD BBK-B
I'm interested in running one of these bad boys on my E5 RS sprint car.

Any news / updates?

I am 100% in for this BBK-B after driving a BBK powered car. While I am doing the head studs and IM and TB, I am strongly thinking I should upgrade to the GSC S2s and beehives and ditching my current HKS 272s to match up to this larger turbo. Thoughts?

I believe GSC and BBK are meant to compliment each other very well

I thought that too but Chad just PMed me and said he would stick with the 272s with the higher flowing turbo. Make sense. The turbo will flow and provide the power and top end and the 272s should still retain the low end torque. Saves me money too...lol. I'm sold!

Only thing is it might be nice to do new springs/retainers so I can rev this larger turbo to a higher redline. I have some reading to do...

It makes no sense in putting in springs and retainers. If your going to do that then you might as well do the S2's. Plus with the HKS 272s you can rev to 7800rpm on the stock valvetrain. That is perfect for either the BBK or BBK-B. You will see in a lot of stock appearing turbo's not make much power past 8000rpm b.c they start to choke. So there is no need for springs and retainers unless you upgrade cams that need them.

Not to mention you shouldn't really be revving past 8000- 8100rpm on the stock bottom end. I know people do but IMO it's not safe. Correct me if I'm wrong.

^^So are you saying the Red chokes past 8k RPM and that it makes no sense to run past that redline on that stock appearing turbo? Or was that not included? This BBK-B seems to flow more like a Red than a BBK Full.

But really until this thing is released and we know how it really works and with what supporting mods it is all speculation. We know what it is supposed to flow at this point and that is about it. I think until this thing is released and I know what it can do (for example the torque curve with S2s versus 272s) that is when I can make some decisions. Maybe this year I will do my suspension over (just have GF210s for now) and over the winter collect all the parts for a big spring 2011 build. I dont know....

its in a testing phase so we can plot flow etc..

will be VERY soon

and you will see numbers from the likes of: CBRD (3 clients cars), GST, JESTR, and a few others... so you will have multiple builds to judge from
