I was not expecting to make any more power than a great tuner like shiv - that is not realistic - obviously the set up was already almost at max whp. My goal was to smooth it out and fine tune it.

I will let the customer speak about how well I accomplished this

This was quoted from a thread that Shiv posted about up a few posts. This is what Al said about the tune on this car that came into his shop with problems.
Where's run #1. It's been 8 months and he still wont reveal that run. Just like his RPM log in this thread. To me, such behavior is way more telling than any name-calling. This is an insult to everyone's intelligence.

Speedlimit, with the help of the moderators, please clean up the thread in question and have it re-opened. I've been around EvoM for quite a long time and it's one of the most informative threads I've seen (besides the OT posts) in a long time. Shivs’ posts are very technical and informative, unlike some of the other venders.

Thanks

As a former owner of Maxima.org (which has more total posts, threads, and members than this EvolutionM.net) I think I have the credentials to comment on the operation of EvolutionM.net.

By having experienced both side of the fence from being a member, to a moderator, then to the owner, I can say that it's impossible to satisfy everyone all the time. The traffic on this site is so huge and constant that it is draining for a moderator to deal with childish games from day to day. This is how we handled it when a thread had good information but was spammed with crap. What I asked my moderators to do on Maxima.org is to lock the thread in question then make a copy of it into our "Problems Threads" forum. By doing so members can still view the orginal thread, with name callings and all, while the a moderator responsible for that forum cleans up the copied thread. After the pruning of useless posts, the new thread is moved back into the forum while the original thread gets moved into the Problems Threads forum.

As a member, I would not like to see a thread being moved/deleted that had good information in it. Of course, the name calling and childish games can go away but members deserve to see a nice, informative debate/discussion. Questions were posed in the moved/deleted thread but were not addressed (i.e. RPM map from Al for the IX that was road tuned).

Being a moderator is a thankless, tiring job. The moderators over on Maxima.org do not get paid (I don't know how it works here). They are chosen by the staff (admins and other mods) and they volunteer their time to keep the site in check. Once that moderator status is attached to the person (who was once a member), he/she has a bullseye on his/her back. Often we see name callings like "thread ****," "crappy moderator," "Big Brother," etc., but a nice "thank you for a good job" is far and few.

Finally, this site is privately owned so the owner can address anything he/she wishes without consent from anyone. Threads/posts can be removed at a moment's notice. There is no "freedom of speech" on privately owned forums... period. If you like it here, stay. If you don't, leave. It's as simple as that. Many of the disgruntled Maxima.org members try and start their own forum, but they are soon shut down because of the lack of traffic. To the mods, member would like to see a clean debate/discussion so please do your best to clean up the junk that usually comes with the threads. To the members, please understand that moderators do have lives outside EvoM.net so not all of them have time to clean up a thread right away... also a quick "thanks" goes a long way.

Does it matter where run #1 is, the fact is Al posted up a thread showing a customer that was having problems with your tune. He didnt put down you, or you products and just completly remove them, and retune.

Honestly Al is a pretty damn busy guy, he travels everyweek, if not a few times a week. He doesnt have time to sit on his computer and post everything. Thats just the fact, try pming al or emailing him, its take sometime for him to get back to you, not because he doesnt want to, because hes busy doing other things.

Actually, it does. If any vendor wants to tell a story, he should be asked to elaborate on it? If not, we're looking at an advertisement. Not a technical discussion. Same reason many of us requested RPM logs in this most recent thread. It takes no more than a few minutes to provide such info. It takes far more time to skirt around the issue. And as long as the party is being honest and forthright, only good can come of it.

Jim-- Everyone is busy. Al is not alone. He's a big boy. Let him take care of himself.

Jim-- Everyone is busy. And Al certainly doesn't have anything against sitting in front of his computer, hour after hour, until the wee hours of the morning. Please stop making these excuses for him. He can defend himself. Please let it go man.

Im not making excuses for Al, im simply stating the fact that he has other stuff to do rather then fullfil your needs Shiv. In the last three days youve been on this forum to respond back and forth to the comment in your thread, wheres Al been? Hes been on a couple times, but hasnt been able to answer every question in your thread post after post.

Look at that thread Shiv, he says another engine tuning system, guy was having problems. Your thread goes customer had problem with brand x tuning and brand y parts who gets tuned by brand x, you removed and belittled the buschur parts, and als tuning.

Al stated in his thread that he wasnt trying to cause drama that your tuning was great, the customer was just having problems and he smoothed them out, he didnt take parts off and retune and then belittle your methods.

I have spent a fair amount of time thinking about these threads and the direction they took. I have tried to be objective and just analyze the logic in each argument.

I think they took the direction they did because Al’s back is against the wall. A very solid argument has been presented with what appears to be conclusive information. No information that Al could possibly present could change this so instead of answering the questions directed at him and continuing the conversation he lashes out.

I think that there is a lot of pressure for him to come out for a tune for the IX. It is probably not complete yet but to be competitive and stay respected he still needs to sell it. I think he has been caught and has no other recourse but to try and redirect everyone’s attention away from the truth.

Please understand that this is purely conjecture based on threads that have now been deleted. I would like this topic to be re-opened so that this can be proven conclusively one way or the other.

Note to the moderators: I know maintaining this forum is a lot of work and I actually feel you guys do a good job. I also know that no one wants to wade through pages of crap on all threads and sometimes it is easier to just delete things. However there are some threads that have more value than others and are worth a little more time. I believe this to be one of those threads. If anything the thread should be re-opened just to give Al a chance to redeem himself.
