Where did that thread go?

Please clean up the thread in question and bring it back. Deleting it was a mistake, and I'll tell you why is was a mistake using a parallel problem in my world: As an Asst. Principal of a middle school it is my job to keep graffitti off of text books and off the bathroom walls. It is one of those jobs that simply is ALWAYS a challenge and NEVER goes completely away no matter how vigilent we are. However, my solution is NEVER to lock the bathrooms (except to clean up the graffiti) and NEVER to remove all the texbooks from the classroom. Moderators/Admin on this site need to "swallow the pill" and accept the nature of their job.
Here is what works for me and what needs happen to work here:
1. We set high expectations for student behavior.
2. We give serious punishment to those caught vandalizing
3. We clean up graffitti almost immediately. This works very well because students stop taking the risks of severe punishment when they know that their valdalism will be viewed by few due to quick cleaning.
It is simply work that must be done.

Update:
I just had a nice talk with Ali (evom admin/owner) about the situation. The end result is that I will become a moderator on this forum. That means that I will have the ability to remove posts that are off-topic, inflamatory or just plain dumb. Posts which fall into this catagory will be moved to a forum only visable by moderators and supermoderators. Upon removal, I will issue a message to the supermods explaining why that particular post was removed. They will have the authority to agree with my actions or veto them put the post back to there it was in the first place. I think this will work out the best for everyone except those who want to use this forum as a platform for issuing insults and obscuring the actual topic at hand. This scrutiny will be applied to everyone, regardless of "camps." So this even means you too IE.
As for the Dyno Tune vs. Road Tune thread, Ali and I both agreed that there is A LOT of good information, technical and otherwise. That thread will return. But not without some pruning. However, no posts made by any of the parties directly involved (Dynoflash, Buschur, the owner of the car or myself) will be edited or removed . People need to see the full picture and this cannot happen without them being able to read everything said by these parties.
Ali is out of town right now and will return later in the week. So expect these changes to happen very soon.
Best Regards to all,
shiv

I don't think the way Shiv posted his info was bad at all. When Shiv makes a post like that he comes forth with ALL THE INFO. There were multiple graphs and each run was posted. Simply comparing one vs the other, nothing wrong with that at all. I bet this guys car drives perfect now after seeing how much power he picked up downlow. My friend has a dyno tuned evo by Shiv and it's amazing how quick and responsive it is.
When you let vendors become mods you really have lost the ability for the forum to be unbiased. Unless u do it for all of them.
This leaves you to wonder the legitamcy of the forum. Money Talks though huh........

Having said that I still disagree. A vendor moderated forum leaves waaaay to much room for biased moderating. Not saying you will , I just dont believe ANY vendor should hold mod status.
Again not a personal attack just an opinion on vendors and mods. I wonder how many other vendors will be allowed to be mods? If none then it screams favortism. If not you have a vendor mod'ed forum. That can get very ugly very fast.
I think the mods on here do fine. I find it interesting that people question thier ability because they do thier job and close threads that clearly break rules. IT's thier job.

Frankly, I'm not a big fan of any type of censorship. If people want to make themselves look at asses, go for it. More power to them. But the site is privately owned and operated. And I completely understand the need to maintain certain standards. This site needs to be a place where people can go to get information. Not sift through 10 off-topic posts for every one informative one. As always, we are not going to satisy everyone. This is one thing that will never change.

If it is deemed that such a change detracts from quality of content of this forum, I'm sure the necessary actions will be taken. But as it stands right now, there are big issues that must be addressed. Until the new changes result in even bigger issues (beyond the current speculation), we're going to proceed as stated.

shiv will only have moderator rights over his own section (vishnu vendor forums) much in the way that some moderators don't have rights to other sectors. ( I have no autority in any of the US lancer areas). Shiv won't be a normal moderator per-se.
