The boys came in 5th place today and the STI spun out on one of the time trials and slipped into at least 3rd in mid price class. That gives us a little bit of breathing room for the dry skidpad(which looks like it will be wet via rain on Saturday).

Was the STi damaged at all?

If the Skidpad is wet, then they might not get 1st in class...

hi guys..its me shiv. sorry for not updating for so long but its been real rough the last couple of days.. so much driving and so little sleep.

anyway.. let's recap. back to the second event at vegas. yes... the gurney flap worked. with it, paul could go WOT around the oval with the car getting loose. however, the track got so hot in the afternoon that the car would begin to overheat. depite switching map banks to a low boost 20psi map, the temps would still rise terribly. also hurting was the high altitude which hurts radiator efficiency. taking off the vent grill, flushing the coolant and running richer didn't appreciably. instead, paul had to limp down the straights which hurt times. still, we came in 5th overall, just a few tenths of a second (in a 5 min session!) behind david murray in his factory backed GT3. The cars ahead of us were the viper (much more grip), the 996tt and tube bodied ram race truck (both with more power and a lot more grip). all with better cooling sytems. we really wanted that 4th place but that's life. the next day at Pueblo was the same. Needed to run low boost from the start. temps and super high altitude (5000 ft). not only was power down, put boost came on over 1000rpm later which made the car slower out of some corners. really need to bet back closer to sea level for the car to work the way we need it to.

more later

Mister2zx3 - Question
Could you take a pic of Shiv's hitch through the car's bumper?

Hmm, I would love to see a pic of the flap ... hint hint .. anyone .. Bueller ... Bueller?

Also wanted to say great job guys!! I can honestly say that your Evo has exceeded all of my expectations. To be hanging (and at times owning) the kind of cars that are mixing it up at the top of the ranks is truly impressive.

Quote: Great job tuning Shiv and a great job driving Paul. I'm curious what percentage of the results are based on driver skills vs tuned car (60% driver/40% car). I'm sure its probably a great testimant to both because the combo of the two is kicking butt!
Well uhh of course I would love to take ALL the credit but it would not be true. I think the biggest contribution that I ultimatly make is my experience with the setting up of the car. Just like with engine tuning there are many combinations avaliable, some good but most bad. The supension set up that was on the car was all top of the line well respected Cusco. To say it did not do the job was is a gross understatement. This is the combination we tried in OTC (which we used for our one lap test). We now have balance poise and SPEED through the corners that allows us to compete, and sometimes beat, modified versions of the quickest cost-no-object sports cars made. We are not finished yet we have already made plans for the next stage of suspension developement that will take it to the same corner speed levels as the exotics we are running with. That is the weak link in the EVO, apex speed. The 60/40 weight distrabution and smallish front tire limit the ultimate speed through any long corner. We are working on it and Vishnu already have the most potent EVO VIII road racer out there and we are just getting started! More to come, Paul

shiv or paul - praxis question
Siv - isn't the Fuller STI team using the bridgestone Praxis system? Since you're seeing it run on the track - what do you think?

hi guys... its me shiv. its pauls turn driving.. he is putting in his 25 min of driving per day (inc track tim) j/k you guys should have seen the shortcut directions he gave me yesterday on the way hallet. we ended up visiting 2 extra states (and the weren't euphoria or bliss)....haha.

a few things we have learned about the evo in the last 5000 miles and 5 days:

1. the stock seats are awesome. upright or semi reclined. back pain is one of the very few things we have not complained about. the fact that they are also supportive on the track is just unreal. I am six ft tall and paul is just uner four ft high and can easily find comfort okay so maybe he is a bit taller

2. we should take better care our CDs. the are all scratch.

3. one can roast marshmellows from the heat from your trailers axle bearings after a 10 hr drive through utah.

4. the warning "look out" doesn't work when it comes to sand storms when the windows are down (due to ac not working)

5. grease guns are evil for the user yet strangely amusing for everyone out of blast radius. grease monkeyˆ
