Car and Driver Supertuner shootout competitors

However, we're working with BFG (who, we just found out, is going to use our One Lap EVO for their new upcoming tire ads!) on getting wider rubber on the car. We're also hoping to have some more aero work done (front splitter). That's about it.
As for winning, there is little or no chance. The 0-150mph test is going to kill us due to aero/drag issues inherent with the EVO. Can't compete with a 700hp Vette running a Cd of .29. The several seconds we'll lose above 120mph or so is going to be tough, if not impossible, to make up in the other portions of the test (1/4 mile, road course, braking).
Well, that's my take on it so far... we'll see

Actually the more I think about it the Evo should do ok, purely by finnishing and by placing middle of the raod in a couple of events and hell just being invited to play with those cars is a win.

s-l-o-w-l-y transision to oversteer but by then I was out of road (make any sense at all?). That's water under the bridge now because it's great in the rain now so commence the rain dance! I am not sure if they will run in the wet because of the high speeds on the banking
. I would do it in a second however because we stand a real chance in the wet. The advantage we will have is AWD (wet or dry) the start is on the back-straight which is real slick (even slicker than the drag strip in Heartland Park
). So the high HP cars will suffer on the launch. I predict we will be close on ET but smoked by 15-20mph in trap-speed (they will be ~140mph
in the quarter). We will get four tries for the perfect launch. As Shiv said we will fall way back on the 100-150 (perhaps over 5 seconds). We will hit them as hard a possible and will have the EVO once again further up the standings than peaple thought possible (fingers crossed!). Wish us luck and thanks, PaulBTW I heard the Mallet cars are bad-*** CTS-V's with mega hp and yep they are in our class...

Whatever happens, you can bet that we're going to try to represent the EVO community the best we can!! With Paul driving and those little underhood hamsters boosting to 30psi, we should surprise a few people

Remember, Shiv's car is a spoiler which in essence means that it's meant to otherwise skew what is projected to be an almost forgone conclusion. This is another opportunity to show what can be done with a much cheaper car than the vast majority if not all of the competitors. Not a replacement for most but an alternative. I mean, nobody in their right mind would take an EVO over an Enzo or the like, but they sure as hell would want one for a second car. And when you make more people stop and look, sort of make them rethink their expectations or just rub their noses in the dirt a bit, well, thats just another notch in the headboard for Vishnu and the EVO.
Shiv.. someone commented a couple of pages back that there are no STI tuners invited.. I take it he doesn't realize your expertise with the WRX cars. But his point is interesting and begs the question.. Why no STIs? The Sti community constantly touts the superior potential of their larger motor. Even C&D placed them ahead of our cars as one of the best cars available articles I read. Given your extensive work with both cars, what is your take here please? BTW tear it up big dog. WOOF

The only time you see the STi rated "higher" is when it's a public opion poll, mostly because of the sheer # of Subie guys. Like that stupid Spike 52 thing, and R&T's "Reader's Choice" car of the year...

Great post!
I just wanted to say congratulations to Shiv and the Vishnu car at the One Lap competition, you guys did great! I was already planning on going with the Xede from Vishnu when I wanted to get a power upgrade, but now I know that I will for sure!! Their performance in the competition also makes me very proud to be an Evo owner.

granted the result wouldn't have been so tight without the first stage result, but it was a close race until the final day.
Too bad the pump fuel will hurt the performance for this quest for the Vishnu team, but best of luck guys!
cheers
