J/k kidding big guy.
Great discussion, lots of good information. Nothing wrong with a friendly debate.

I always have an open mind to new ideas and concepts. After all it was only a year ago that I was learning how to tune with alcohol from Mr. Buschur and now a year later we have sold so many SMC alcohol kits that I can not even get any of them to sell and they are back ordered for weeks. Its kind of like when I went to the video game store to try and get a new X box and they are back ordered till June 2006.
Based upon the feed back from my customers almost every one has been very pleased with the performance of the SMC kit and the power gains that are realized when tuning with alcohol.
You told me of someone you recently saw at a drag track trying to go fast with water injection and they ran into significant knock problems during their passes - you wonmt have this problem with alcohol
Thanks Ray,
Unfortunately I don't have the time nor I want to spend crazy money trying to find out the hard way. PJ is going to go 100% Methanol, I think I will ultimately try the suggested Alcohol with a mixture of no less than 50%.
I heard from you that you wish to show up to Al's tunning, please feel free to call me and we can pick you up and also I will sponsor the meals, it will be nice to have you there as well.
We all have different demands, your car was tuned for 100OCT and made crazy power but you say that it is your weekend car. PJ is like me but even crazier, he wants fast now and everywhere, he will get tune for a street/drag driving and knowing him he will be basicly spraying all the times from traffic light to traffic light.
I wish my car turns out decent after the tunning, I am really looking forward to the tunning day next week.
By the way, I heard you are looking for an R/C car?, pm me I have 6 of them and soon to have a 1/5 scale buggy

I'll have the hks dli ii this weeks and that should fix my misfiring problem. Also, i still have a lot of options left, 89 gas, 91 gas, 2 bigger water jets, methanol from 0% all the way to 60%. I am really happy about the results gotten so far. Hey, what more can I ask for, running 87 and be in the 12 secs, and got ~350miles for the last 2 tanks of gas.

Quit asking opinions. Everyone has one. Everyone thinks theirs is the best. The best one for you is the one YOU choose. Its not about what Al thinks, or me or anybody. Its about what you want to do. If it doesnt work, then you try somthing different. After several tries, you will find what works for you. Just dont expect to do 10 things to your car and expect them all to work together and flawless. Adjustments and changes will always have to be made. Ask Al how many turbos he has tried......till he found the one.......if he has even found it yet...... RRR

Personal prefernce is key and what works for one guy may or may not work for another - this is great advice.
My turbo quest is a great example as when - for example - this year I decided to try the new garrett GT040R no other evo was using it as it was brand new and I had no one to report back any results. I like to experiment with new things and figure out which works best. As another example I have tried about 5 different sets of cams in my car before deciding on the JUN units I use now.
Its funny that you mention the turbo thing as I have already comissioned a new turbo manifold . . . .
For use with a new GT42 R turbo
I think that its cool for me to experiment with trying new parts and doing a lot of trial and error on my own car as that is how I learn more
I also think its a good idea for a guy like Carlos to ask about and get different ideas before he decides which way to go on setting up his car.
99.999 % of everything I have learned about cars I have learned by testing out the ideas of others and keeping an open ear
One of the reasons why i like these forums so much is that I learn something new about evos every day on here. There are so many great minds and such great passion for these fine car that there is always something new being discussed and new things to figure out.
One of the important questions ANY Evo owner doing modifications MUST ask themselves is how much playing about they want to do with the car. On either end of the spectrum you can have one guy who is going to install a staged package and drive the car for 3 years and never touch anything - on the other end of the spectrum is a guy getting a full stand alone and who enjoys playing with his car and always changing the combination.
In the end, after digesting all this information, suggestion and ideas Carlos will reach his / her own opinions and decison. I think by asking questions and seeking some feed back from various sources Carlos is taking advatnage of a very valuable resource available to us on evoutionm.
Abner,
I am sure you have more potencial but I can recal a quote from you, When I did the test drive on your car I asked you why you did the tunning in 87oct instead of 91OCT you told me, quote:
"The 87oct will make as much power, running higher oct gas wouldn't make any difference".
I am not saying you were lying, I am just assuming you under estimated your staments
I was like:
.
I knew you wouldn't settle on 87oct. Cmon Abner, you drive an Evo, you want more power, don't you?

Carlos, I was just laying down the options i have left. Besides, i cant even get this damn thing to knock on 87, all it did was misfire
Yes, there are ppl in the evo community that has water injection, but i havent seen anyone push it as far as me. I'll really like to see the limits of 87 and water.

Abner,
I must make a significant remark. The other day when we were talking with the other Evo guys Evin mentioned to me the bar to PSI conversion.
For over a year I was under the impression that my car was dropping boost down to 19PSI but the reality is that it maintains boost just over the 1.5 bars all the way to the red line.
I starts to realize today that my EVO could be one of this freaks **** that boost like crazy. Remember, I mentioned in this forum multiple times that my boost absolutely surpasses by far the 1.5 bar and reads clockwise to the 76 vacuum reading.
I think I am going to buy a PSI boost gauge this week. My theory is that my cars has always overboost extremelly high and NEVER EVER detonated a single time.
Does it make sense Abner? Could my car be boosting 2-3 PSI above average EVOs, remember I always run on 91OCT.

1 Bar = 14.5 psi. 1.5 Bar = 21.76psi. Seems normal...Get one of those defi mechanical ones, reads vacuum up till 30psig

My friend's dad once told me back in the late 80's that "High octane gas is just watered down gas." Surprisingly he was a Mopar guy and not a Buick guy. I thought he was crazy until I saw the first kits for DSM's.
