Thumbs up

Hello all,
My first post. I've been viewing these forums as a guest for quite some time seeking as much knowledge about the EVOLUTION as possible because, well, I want one. I'll say right off the bat that I've been keeping an eye on this car ever since it came out in 03 and this is by far the BEST pricing I have ever seen. I've procrastinated for quite a while for one reason or another but when I saw these offers, it was a sign that the time has come.
I spoke to Mark a day or so ago about getting one for me come january and he was very friendly and seemed sure that he would have no problem getting me exactly the kind of Evo I want. A blue IX with SSL. AAAHHHhhhhhh. He said he'd call me when one show's up at his door. When he does i'll be making a trip up there from San Diego with check in hand and if it passes my personal inspection then hopefully i'll be driving home in it.
I'll let you guys know how the whole process goes. I can't stop thinking about it. I've actually been a little conflicted because the younger more testosterone driven side of me keeps saying, "nooooooo get the MR. Performance over asthetics." And i'd probably give into it without hesitation if the MR came in blue. God I love that color. Seems like Mitsu can never get it perfect with this car for me. Honestly the only reason I'm getting the SSL is for the HID/fog lamps. The leather and sunroof and stereo, although nice, are just perks that I don't care too much for. Back in 05 when the HID's became only available through SSL or MR I slapped my forhead and it honeslty kept me from buying the 05 because I didn't want to pay 3K for the SSL. But with the cash that I would be saving by going through Mark, screw it.
A bit of history on me. I want to pick up the Evo as *the car I don't have to worry about* and, at least at this point in time, have no intention of modifying it. *But i'm tempted, oh so tempted.* 300 WHP with a dyno flash and exhaust alone? Oh yea. But i'll be resisting that urge. I used to own a 2001 yellow S2000 for the same purpose. I had to sell that to help with a down payment on a place to live unfortunetly. My primary car is actually the one I will more often than not be driving, racing, and modifying. Bet you guys would never guess what it is............ Turbo 96 Saturn SC2. If you curious then goto http://www.cardomain.com/id/iceplant18. I get a lot of shlack for it because of the image/stigma that is associated with Saturn. But then again i'm sure the original Lancer tuners can relate, and honestly the more often my car gets dissed, the better I feel about tuning/racing it. Dispite what the hecklers say on the sidelines, the thing's quick and it will always be where my heart is. It's an ongoing project though so the Evo will be great to drive when the weathers bad or when the SC2 is under the wrench. Plus in order to pull off the numbers I want i'll have to install and tune a Megasquirt II which will make it harder to drive regularly.
Thanks everyone for all the great info that has been posted on this forum that helped me to make the decision to buy an Evo. Hopefully it'll all work out and come January I'll be cruising down the road in a shiny new Evo with my O face on.

Saturn!

I have a 94 SC2 as my "other" car and had a 95 SL2 before that. I am a former A tech from Saturn so if you ever need any info or help just PM me.

Yea, I am looking forward to get an EVO IX too, if the APR is right and Mark able to give in some freebies, I think I will just get a EVO IX over the new SI... since those are so hard to get..
