Got the word from the ins. co. They are going to give me $30,525 (that incl. tax, fees, etc). It was right around what I was expecting. But the interesting part is I can buy back the Evo for around $3,000. I'm thinking just parting out the stock components would be much much more, with no damage to turbo, bov, head (maybe whole engine), seats, steering wheel, spoiler, most of the body, etc, etc, etc. It's an interesting situation.

Hey guys just a few questions for you.

1. I'm thinking about opening an online Evo store and then opening a shop with a dyno.
2. My questions to you guys are What do you want to see on the website and and what other suggestions do you have?

Wow, I would definately buy it back. The engine, turbo, trans, tc, seats, etc would make it a wise investment for you. Heck, just drop the drivetrain into your talon project

Def. buy it back Hee. You could make a crap ton of money off selling the parts. Or like mentioned above drop the whole drivetrain in your Talon and save the money there!

MR_EVO: If your seriously considering this the main thing I would love to see is to be able to walk into your shop and buy parts that you ALREADY have in stock. You know how many people would be willing to pay a bit more to walk into a shop and buy a AMS turboback (or others) in stock and walk out with it the same day. At the same time Modified is starting to do this and has always provided me with great services and prices. The only thing they don't have is a dyno which Alan says hes working on getting, so you'd have your work cut out for you, but friendly competition between businesses is always a healthy thing (works out well in GA at least). Good luck man!

Well I'm very good friends with Allen and its going to be fun. But I have a totally different Idea for the shop and an online store too. The Shop will be here in a little bit. I trying to find a few investors.

I think an AWD dyno in N. NV is long overdue. As far as Evo-specific shop, I'm not sure if there is enough demand to keep the company afloat. And a lot of Evo owners are DIYers who also shop for the lowest prices for parts, so it will cut into your profit margin.

You also have to look at norcal shops as competitors as they are only 2-4 hrs away. Unless you can clearly distinguish the company to be superior or have a particular niche that is in demand, it will be a tough venture.

I agree with Hee. An AWD dyno may be enough to set you apart and get you the business as you can also do Subies too, but I think limiting yourself to just Evo's wouldn't be a good idea (as far as working on cars go). If you want to just sell Evo parts in your online store that should be fine, but you'll have to be really competive price wise. SpeedElement and ExtremePSI have some of the best prices on line that i've seen. I just bought an FP Green from Extreme PSI and they had it in stock and gave me free shipping and I'm also buying an ETS 3.5in IC from them as they are selling it cheaper than ETS is and I get the free shipping too. Thats pretty rare to find one in stock. I think you may be limiting yourself majorly by just doing an Evo shop, unless you can do like Hee said and distinguish yourself from everyone else around. An AWD dyno will def. do that here in N. Nev. I mean theres a shop in GA that all they do is operate a few dynos and make their business off of people that want to go and tune themselves. They also do have guest tuners come in and offer tuning services themselves, but for the most part all they do is operate the dynos.

After going back and forth about a million times on whether I want to buy the car back or not, I've decided not to buy the car back. I know I would probably make money from selling the parts, but I don't have the time, the garage space, or the desire to do so. And it would take a lot of fabrication to put Evo parts on a TSi. Besides, in the DSM world, $3k buys a lot of parts.

Thanks guys for the info. I was did a lot of research and I will be selling not only evo parts because you guys and everyone else are right about trying to stay afloat by just selling still Evo parts. The Shop with the dyno will be my main priority first. I will be testing some new parts that I will be selling and I will be puting together turbo kits too. I will let you guys know on how it turns out.

I wish you the best of luck and have always supported local shops where ever I've lived, so expect me to be out there and if nothing else dyno my car! Also, I'd be happy to let you use my car as a test car as long as I get free parts out of the deal .

Hee: Understandable man. Looking forward to seeing the Talon when its done and whatever you decide to get next, Evo or other!

FP Green w/ FP actuator, Megan coated O2 housing, Megan coated mani (both to protect from cracking, coating good up to 2000 deg. ), Precision 780cc inj., Evo 9/FP green install kit.

On Monday I'm ordering the ETS 3.5 IC, GSC S1 cams, ARP headstuds, HFS-1 meth. kit and I have my Walbro sitting here, but I need to install that. I feel like I'm forgetting something too...
