Oh that's what you're doing. I just thought you did that when releasing the clutch during the launch. I wouldn't know that since I've never drag raced my car.

yes it's usually called "preload", meaning preloading the axles/drivetrain to avoid the shock from launching.

here's a vid of my buddy preloading on the launch.

If it was the front tire to blame (or any other vehicular failure) then I'm definitely glad they're okay. Those are the worst. A 350z had it's brakes go out on Buttonwillow when I was there... scary stuff for sure.

Tires lost grip and there may have been a little speed for the conditions, track has some light rain on it in the higher elevation that also played a factor.

bumps and bruises and a suppurated shoulder. Could have been much much worse tho.

I have always called this preload as well and it helps to not break anything as there is already some pre-pressure on the drive train and this will help save/ prolong the life of drive train parts This will definitely help on Subaru WRX's that are none for there weak transmissions and most people just rev them up and dump the clutch to launch the car and pop there goes there transmission

Hey guys!
I'm back from the dead! I just bought a GG 2010 Evo X. I am looking for a few parts if anyone has them local? I am looking for a GG Evo X big wing, the red tail lights from an 08 Evo X (will trade mine of my 2010) and someone the would like to trade me some stock wheels for my Rota's that came with the car. If anyone has any of this, please pm me!

****ty...

No you shouldn't have lifted the head at only 25 psi.. I have been on 25 (24.3 redline) for over a year and I have had no problems (But then again I don't track my car other than some WOW days). How were you monitoring boost? What is your AFR for your tune?

Normally boost doesn't lift a head, detonation/pre-ignition does. Read your spark plugs, they should tell the tale...more than likely you need to reduce timing.

Curious to see what your plugs look like as well. I'm not sure what's going on with my car right now but I pulled the plugs and it looks like there was detonation in Cyl #1. I'm dropping the car off at Solid tomorrow for a leakdown and further diagnosis -- cross my fingers for nothing too major. Overall, not a good day at the track.

i'll take some pictures of my plugs and the head gasket when i get home later tonight. the head side of the gasket looks brand new still, the block side has combustion looking marks all over every coolant passage. i didn't even look at my plugs yet, left them in the head when i pulled it (at the track lol).

boost has been at 25 for as long as i know, it has about 5,500 miles on it, all track miles. currently running a 3 port ebcs, before i bought it, had a hallman mbc. factory boost gauge, has read same as 2 different dynos calibrations also (boost creep in co, and ziptie here). making ~360whp/370wtq on e, stock turbo.

like josh said detonation probably killed it. maybe the passage between cyl 1-2 looks like it might have blown there ? its hard to tell with pictures. i have run 32psi with a 6262 on stock headbolts and have had no problems, but mine are just short runs you have alot more heat to deal with for alot longer.
