Hmm .. interesting findings today. I took off my transfer case today. The driver inner shaft was easy to get out, I wanted to pull the passenger off while it was in the car, but no matter how I tried to pop it, it wouldn't come out. I think I'm going to get a bigger slap hammer.
When I pulled the xfer case I inspected it and found a couple interesting things.
The backside has a small chip in the outer surface of the splined shaft. Also on the top of the xfer case on one of the bolt faces, right next to the propeller shaft output I've found a small hole where the material gets a little thin. It looks like the hole has oxidation on it meaning I didn't accidentally poke a hole in it. I think some cleaning, buffing and JB Weld ought to plug the hole. I'm almost certain both were caused on installation.
Has anybody found similar chips and dings on their xfer case?

So does anyone know a shop that might send someone to look at the car? I'm probably going to need to get some bids to see what labor would be like to repair my baby. I pretty much have a full list of everything that would need to be replaced or done to the car, but I don't know what I would be looking at for labor.
I was planning on doing all the work myself, since I've done everything on the car myself so far, but I'm not sure what the insurance company is going to want when they come look at it, so I thought I'd be prepared, and it's not really easy to move it anywhere right now :P
