Utah Evos
How much he gonna charge? Butch does amazing work (has set up many of COBB's cars) and he only charges 140 for lifetime.
Not for a time attack car. 264/272 combo or S1s, small fast spooling turbo (back in my day it was the TME 6.5 turbo, but I'm sure there's better now), and race gas. Then driver mod the hell out of yourself (assuming you've done coilovers and have at least r-comps as well, and probably track pads too). Then go 2.3l stroker with a larger turbo and upgrade to race slicks.
Vesko's old yellow Evo that was only boosting 17 psi was my idea of a cool time attack car, thing hauled ***. Want a cool time attack Evo, look at what all the time attack type guys are doing. Don't listen to the guys that have never been on track
(That was mainly directed to Wes, but I'm pretty sure Juan hasn't either).
Soon as he does I told him to post up here so we can do a big dyno day.

What are you talkin about? I go to the track every chance I get
Just kidding, but I was just throwing that setup out there for cheap power purposes, not really trying to tell him that was what he needed for a good T/A car.
If I wasn't going race gas then I'd do E85 for sure. If E85 ever picks up here (so there's more than the very few stations) I will make a big push to run my car on it. With how few stations there are, and the fact that you can't get it at all at the track (at least not since I last looked) you'd be more SOL than if you ran out of meth.

Trust me, your car sucks to how a well set up time attack car would feel. Your max boost is not at 3100. With a stroker your car would be pretty insane though. Or with a 2.5l motor from the factory
Your car does feel great though, still, I'd never run meth on a time attack car. It's great for a street car that does some track events and what not since you don't have to worry about needing to put race gas in it, but even ask Adam as he and I agreed on the issue. Rather than invest in a meth kit and a tune for it and all the safety features. Just invest in a tune for race gas and putting race gas in your car when you hit the track. Then you know you're 100% safe (even with all the failsafes etc meth kits can fail and cause boom boom) and don't have to worry about hauling extra meth to the track (every track I've been to has had at least 100 octane unleaded race gas).
I wish all the old Evo guys were still around, Ray's old track Evo was a perfect start for a time attack Evo. I think he had 272s or 280s and a TME 6.5... We did a high gear pull on the free way and he left me like I was standing still and there was no delay between him pushing the gas and leaving me.

+1 Buy an STi
Jaykay, but God damn I hated my Evo too, but a newer IX in decent shape would be pretty sick if you can find one Ryan. Had I been able to find one at a dealer nearby I'd probably have gotten that instead of the STi. Since I had a trade it was hard though since I couldn't really buy from private or out of state. And the best one here was that white IX RS at Ken Garff downtown, and I've gotta have the things the RS is missing in a DD, otherwise I'll get sick of it again just like the first Evo.
And no, no way in Hell. There are two reasons I didn't get a X: 1) is looks, I like the hatch look of the STi better (but the hatch look of the sportback is super ugly, the back looks disgusting), and more important than that 2) is Mitsubishi, you of all people should understand since you had so many problems with your Evo. Imagine having all those problems "under" warranty and not getting covered.

I was talking about it to Adam the other day yea if I was on the track it would drink all the meth really quick I'd rather run the non meth map or throw another race gas map on the car then again it'd be nice to have a honda race car like adam for lots less $$ without beating up my car
Ditto, wish there were more stations, certainly the wave of the future for people like us who have performance gasoline oriented cars, just needs to become more readily available.
I know, but I thought he was the one asking about building a T/A car, maybe I got two conversation "threads" mixed up though.
Yep, a lot of the RA is based around the 9. It is almost exactly a replica of the IX AWD system, I know that.
Woot, wish we had at least like 2 or 3 up here within the Murray area, I'd hate to have to drive for 30 min one way just to get gas when I need it, especially since you burn E85 faster than normal 91.
Hell yeah, Adam's teggy is sick! Someday that's what I want to have as a mad time attack car, an integra like Adam's or civic hatch like Jason's.
For whoever it was that wanted a good T/A Evo, just buy this (or follow the build):

and the Ralliart is based off a Evo 9 just with the new Body and Motor
The Drive train is all Evo 9 even the suspension and Brakes I think.
Ya I have 3 stations down by me thats why I would do it and I have gas cans for taking out to the track

You coming down for the autocross Timmay?
7-12? What the hell are they charging in Idaho? Last time I filled up at Miller it was like 6.50/gal for 100 octane.
You coming down for the autocross Timmay?
I am sad too, but it is a very well built car. I remember passing him when it was mostly stock back in they day out at Spring Mountain all of like 4-5 years ago
