Scott, the disco potatoe is the garret gt2871rs which is a very popular vw upgrade. Larger and much more efficient than the k04 and about the same price.
Got the new Brembo slotted rotors, project nu pads, Injen intake and boost piping, 255 fuel pump and ECU re-flash all done this past week!! August 1st - Cams and another re-flash are due!!
Anyone running alcohol injection?! Does it seem to help much?!

So, I got my fuel pump and exhaust done today. Boost control tomorrow and the ECU goes out as well. I have a question about the exhaust. Helix downpipe - do I need to worry about how close it is to the oil pan, i.e. should I get some insulative padding to protect the oil from the heat of the exhaust?
I just removed my downpipe and wrapped it with exhaust wrap. Seems to help keep the oil temps down (I was noticing high temps while autoxing). Did an autox on Sat. and the temps did get as bad as the last one.

I was thinking about a reflective, insulative padding type material that I could stick to the oil pan, but maybe exhaust wrap would work too. Is it something that is a problem on a day-to-day basis, or just when running the car really hard?
