At least until someone saw your car again. I was never fully convinced that you were doing this, figured I would wait and see.

I never took the bait ...

Mr Duct Tape: when are you getting us all a tour of the new track? I think it's time for a group drive out to see MMP and then some food. You get the tour of the track setup and will all chip in and by you and your wife dinner.

Sorry for jumping in here, newbie warning. I need some advice on good shops in the area. Is Modern still the place? I heard there were some changes recently so I wasn't sure. I also heard rumors of a new shop. True? My stock clutch is starting to show some wear (33K miles) and I'm looking at an ACT clutch, but not really interested in the dealership doing the work.

I could use some advice. I know it gets old hearing the newbie questions but I appreciate the help regardless. TIA.

Adam: Modern and COBB are the only two options, and COBB hasn't started working on Evo's... yet... but you can call and talk to Christian and see if they could do at least a clutch job... if not, then Modern is the place... I haven't heard anything about a new shop except that COBB moved to a MUCH larger store

UT_Evo, thanks! So if I'm clear on past events, Christian used to be at Modern, but has moved over to COBB. Correct? Do you guys still feel good about the work that's done at Modern?

As for another shop, I heard something about a shop called Vesco or something like that, but I'm sure you guys would know if there was another shop so I guess I heard wrong.

Adam, Modern Garage quoted me 450.00 for a clutch install a while ago. I don't know how comparable that is to other shops

You should contact "Old Fashion Service" in slc. They are pretty good from what I hear, and have some experience with Evo clutches

Christian is not the right person to contact at Cobb. He does tuning, tuning instruction and some dev work. I think Josh is responsible for the shop; though if not the operator there can point you in the right direction.

There were two reasons I took my car to Modern:
#1. Christian for his insight into car setup
#2. Eric for the excellent work on the car (he was the main mechanic there)

Christian and Eric are now both at Cobb. I've not heard good things about the shop you mentioned. I'm looking myself for a new place I can trust.

I've been working a bit with Utah Imports. Their rates are excellent and the shop is staffed with knowledgable, experienced mechanics. They're more experienced with Audi/VW and others. I'm giving them a shot at my car for now. They're number is 801 533-9600.

There is another shop called MPACT. They're very focused on BMWs though; and labor rates are $$.

For those of you with the Speed Channel ... that are like me getting increasingly frustrated with the 80 hours of coverage every week dedicated to nothing but NASCAR ... ignoring the series that really made Speed worth upgrading to ... sign this petition:
