Hey jake do you remember how much it was to get the whels soda blasted? I went to powder works today and he said that aircraft stripper isn't the best thing for powder coating. He said i could do it myself with aircraft stripper but there is a chance that it would soak up into the wheel and make it so the powder coating wouldn't stick as well.

30-50 per wheel, as I recall. The biggest thing that bothered me about him, more than the customer service (or lack thereof), was the fact that he's booked out a week or more... That's insane.

But yeah, I figured that aircraft stripper would be bad. What did Powder Works have to say to you?

Oh, and while Wes and Chuck have me thinking about it. Who else is planning on going to the track for their first time sometime this year? Show of hands?

So I was bored at work and started looking at all the track opportunities at MMP this year. I thought I would share the wealth. This is by no means the only chances. These are the ones I could find easily. If anyone knows of more, let me know and I'll update the sheet.

I just found out the Beginner Day for next weekend is the 6th, not the 5th, so I may not be going. I've got family leaving town that day. So sad. But I think I'm going to go with the Porsche club on the 26th.

Hey Jake, does the PCA have instructors on their track days or is it just everyone for themselves kindof thing? Wanna come be my instructor? I'll buy you lunch? (and maybe throw in a free package of post-its ).

He told me that getting the rims soda blasted would be the best way to go and would look better and last longer. Well i am like 99.9% percent sure i'm getting my wheels coated there, he said it would take 3-5 days. Oh yeah and i'm not gonna do the red lip anymore too much work. Oh and I found out that Powder Works does a lot work for my work. (long story ) Just gotta talk to the soda blaster man now . Was stripped hard to find? and do you know if he is open on saturdays?

I most likely plan on hitting up the track for my first time this year

So i sent soda blaster dude a message and he said it would be $25 a face, i guess that doesn't mean the whole wheel? why would i want just the faces done for powder coating?

sent him another message asking how much it was for the entire wheel and he hasn't gotten back to me yet

That is awesome, nicely done, we should add to the sheet if anyone knows of any other times, but good job anyway.

Yeah, beginner day is Sunday, that's weird but oh well, more time for me to get my wheels done too I guess. Unless they ask me to instruct, if you aren't going I'm not going.

PCA has instructors as far as I know (didn't ever go in the beginner group with them and...) I didn't go with them enough that I think they'd even THINK about me being an instructor, one of the kids that races with them, and has for awhile, didn't exactly get along with me in high school. I've only been to 2 PCA days, so I doubt they'd let me instruct. Otherwise I would totally do it for you without lunch... Though you'd still have to buy me the post-its

Yeah, he asked me if I wanted to know the per-face price too, I laughed at him. 3-5 days to powder coat? And how long to soda blast? So what like a week of the car being down? Damn. That's rough. It was easy to find once I figured out that it was down the dark scary gross alley WVC FTMFW!!! But he also mentioned he was hardly ever in the "office."

And okay:
Wes, Chuck, Josh so far.

I'll probably strip the wheels myself.
I would charge about $100.00, I'm really picky and do several angles before i blend the port. You don't want angles to differ more than 10* or you won't have laminar flow and that would create eddies and lose flow not good.

That price is just for the porting, coating would be extra.
