I think the dealer would sh*t a brick if they saw what he's done to his car.

+1, then point out that there's no warranty on that and ask for his bank account info.

The dealer knows what I've done but yes there will be no warranty now - but it was nearly up anyway.

I'll fix things myself, hopefully the evap thing, the oxy sensor and tyhe fuel pressure sensor being fixed by me will sort out the rough idle.

The car looks great! Congrats on finishing it up.

By the way, code P1200 is Injector Control Circuit. I'm not sure what would throw that code but hopefully it helps you out.

If you felt dizzy at all, I hope it was from the excitement and not from running the car with the garage door closed.

Ok I have one MAJOR problem with the car that I may need some expert help with. If any of you have any ideas how to solve this or why it is doing it, please post.

----------------

When I press the clutch down - the engine begins to rev up and down very quickly. This means when the engine has no load it is reving itself very quickly up and down over and over again - the longer you leave it doing that, the quicker it becomes. The more I drive it in one go, the quicker the reving goes when the clutch goes down.

----------------

This happens when changing gear (although its not noticeable as I change fast) and coming to a stop.

Here are the facts:

- Currently the fuel pressure sensor is NOT connected. (we've got a pressure sensor from the old engine that well connect to the fuel tank tomorrow).

- We keep throwing codes P0446 and P0441 to do with the evap emissions.

- I dont think my fuel temp sensor is working correctly throws P0183 code.

- We dont know if the rear ventilation solenoid is connected properly, infact we cant even find it.

PLEASE if anyone knows of any way this could be happening or how to fix it, post here. The car is AMAZING when going fast and up to speed but unfortunately this one problem makes it awful to drive.

In regard to your problem with the car reving the way it is - what happens when you are driving and just take your foot off the accerator - is the car still holding the same amount of revs - it is not decelerating....

Because these cars are so electronic and controlled by so many solinoids it is always hard to know... my guess would be around the T.B check that the small vaccumm line at the rear and under the plenum chamber is totally secured (vaccum leak) also check that the TPS is set correctly (may just need to adjust the screw) and then check the actual Throttle solinoid as it may not be fully connected or could be faulty if it is hunting for revs when shifting... also check the Air flow sensor that it is clean and not damaged

It certainly does not sound like a mechanical problem but more a electronic one...

The dificulty lies with the fact that not only have you done a major engine swap you have added a modified engine being all the add on performance parts as one swap.... which is always a good thing to do but it makes tracking down problems that little more difficult were as if you had swapped the stock engine in and then added the mods it will be easier to know were the small glitches are... look you have come so far and done so much which is a real credit to you both good luck with sorting out the small problems

The problem occurs ONLY when the clutch is down and Im moving.

It does not occur when Im standing still with the clutch down, but moving forward or backward at any speed makes the engine rev up and down quickly.

At any other time the car is a DREAM! - Instant throttle response and Im pulled into my seats!

Could miss-fires cause the erratic reving when the clutch is down? Because...

We checked the spark plugs today for the first time as I had some mis-fires, and they were all really bad, so Im changing them tomorrow.

Otherwise, my other concern is the Evap Emission System is causing it.

Anyhow, just got to figure this out and I will have an amazing car that I can tell already is worth all the money I spent, I am still amazed at its speed.

I agree with Christine about the vacuum leak. When you close the throttle plate, there should only be a small amount of air getting in to run the engine at idle. If more air gets in, the ECU adds fuel to mix with it, and the engine revs up. Once it reaches a certain rpm (I'm guessing 1500 or so), the ECU will cut the fuel to bring the rpms back down. Once the rpms come down, the ECU turns the fuel back on and the cycle repeats.

[edit] and the bit about it only happening when the car is moving isn't unusual. My old Eclipse did that, too. I'm wondering if you didn't miss a connection in the evap emission system, which is also the source of the vacuum leak..?[/edit]

hcj, I got those bushings in the HELP! parts aisle at the local Autozone.
