I'm sorry, but what do you mean by gash?

lol, british slang for it looks awful.

The front I like - the back I dont. The 3 door one however is nice front and back.

Anyhow, tomorrow I will be installing a complex oil cooler system that will do the following:

- Relocate the oil filter to a more convenient location
- Pass oil through a thermostat valve, if the oil is less than 170F it sends 95% of it back to the engine, if it is over that temp, it sends it through the cooler.
- Take a reading of the oil temp before the cooler, and display result on a gauge in the cabin.
- Pass engine oil through a front mount oil cooler which has a temp-activated fan.
- After the oil cooler the oil passes through a module which turns on the fan if the oil temp is over 170F after its passed through the cooler.
- Oil passes through a second temp sensor which displays cooled oil temp on a gauge in the cabin.

I'm such a geek - and I'll love being able to see exactly what my engine oil temp is then seeing how much the cooler cools it. Pics tomorrow.

Also, I looked at the shop manual for an Evo 7-9 today and I noticed the fuel pump I had to return was an Evo one. New one is being delivered this week sometime.

Sounds like a nice oil cooler setup. Or maybe I'm showing my geek roots.
Your total oil capacity will be somewhere near 6 quarts, then.

Today we fitted the oil cooler, and installed the oil hose up to the thermostat valve - the next connections would be the remote oil filter then the engine, so we'll leave that till the engine is in.

I mounted the HID Ballast units out of the way, and We installed the wire from the oil temp gauge sensors through to the cabin.

I'm now looking for a RHD pillar with two spaces for 50mm Diamter gauges!

That is FAN-tastic. What makes you think the oil filter is hard to get to? I think the 4g69 is by far the easiest engine I have had to change oil on. Excellent progress man, keep the pics coming, I'm getting more and more excited for you

Location, and vertical mounting. I have to slide my head and arm under the car to get my hand up there to take off the filter, and you have to unscrew it quickly to keep oil from running down the sides of the filter and all the way up your arm.

My old car had the filter mounted horizontally down under where the battery is in the RA. Very easy to get to, and no oil all over my hand/arm.

The main reason im going for filter relocation, is because using a sandwich adapter for the oil cooler puts the oil filter closer to the ground.

Jobs left to do now:

Replace fuel pump
Install brass shifter bushings
Install Sway Bar Poly Bushings
Install underhood brass shifter bushings
Remove return fuel line
Attach transaxle to engine

Then begins the process of installing the new engine.

It was on Fedex 3-5 day international shipping, being posted from Portland, OR. It's brand new, fully assembled - ready to use. Should be here by early next week.

It looks like we'll be done by end of next week.

Downside with horizontal mounts, though, is you can't prime them.

Today we finished wiring up the oil cooler fan, then I removed the A-pillar ready for the twin 52mm gauge pod one that will arrive on wednesday.

My fedex transaxle shipping now reads:

Nov 13, 2006 7:57 PM

At dest sort facility

STANSTED GB

So it is now in my country and due on the 15th still.

That means wednesday I will have photos of the new engine in the car, if it does get delivered then.

I just recieve the brass shifter base and underhood bushings too, so they will go in on weds.

Either way, everythings look good.

Do yourself a favor and gut that restrictor or replace it with a new clutch line.
