omgholyeffincrap!

ok, i dunno whats going on here but let me just throw this one out there.

Why when i called mitsubishi for a price on a valve lash adjustment
(which is 2hrs labor time on @ 90 / hr = 180)
did the tech tell me that for my engine i would have to leave my car there overnight,
and that they have to adjust the valves
when the engine is cold....

someone PLEASE tell me what the heck this is all about...

If I am not mistaken there are cold tolerances available, but the recommended procedure is engine at operating temperature.

should i do it cold so that i dont have the lash too far off so as to do minimal damage to the engine while its so far off,
and then again when it is hot?

called the dealer again,
another person answered the phone,
asked him,
he said definately do them cold.

so i will try cold, it cant hurt,
if it still doesnt sound correct,
ill do hot, if it still isnt right, this things going to the stealership to be done.

You can do it cold but the specs will be different.

Don't try it cold unless you have the specs...
