The seats were in Mitsubishi's Jan. 13 press release, as was some info about packages.

After the Toronto show, there was Canadian press that said the Recaros would be standard, with optional upgrades (still Recaro, of course). The only thing that seems to be missing on the Canadian model is the HID headlights, and that's probably just due to differences in standards for headlights.

As usual, Canadians will probably have either just one model or a single upgrade package from a single base model, possibly all just in one or two colours -- we're not a huge market, and Mitsubishi is very new up here, even by comparison to the US.

Does Mitsubishi do a good metallic black? -- I think I could live with that -- the metallic gray they showed in Toronto was great, except that it was gray ... if I'm stuck with gray in Canada, I'll be painting it over for sure.

[still hoping for that tomato-soup red-orange up here]

I know the Evo's black is a very dark metallic grey. Looks dark enough from a distance (not quite as black as the Tarmac Black colour), but up close you can really see the little specs of gold and silver in the paint. That's the colour I'm hoping for when I purchase mine.

The fact that every time I log on, somebody's talking about "the packages are this, this and this..." and not too much further down the page it's something completely different. If there's not a consistant story between any two given people, one or both of them have to be completely full of ****. I want information about this car as much as anybody, but I'd prefer nothing to a unsubstantiated guess. As far as I can tell, nobody here has final, confirmed information about what goes in what package, at least in the US, and it doesn't sound like we're getting it the same way Canada gets theirs. To take it a step further, yesterday somebody was claiming TC-SST was optional. Right.

I know that Recaros, HIDs, the Rockford audio, nav, and sunroof are going to be available. What I don't know is how they're going to be offered, and I'm not convinced that anybody else here knows either. I'd love to know the truth, but misinformation presented as truth doesn't help anyone.

Best guess is that they'll be as close to the 2009 GTS and/or Evo packages as possible. I'm not sure why Mitsubishi hasn't been more up front about packages, since they must have decided on them by now, and it's not necessary to give pricing with option packages (even though most of that would be fairly obvious from other product lines). They probably figure people are going to wait until there's a base price before worrying about packages. Obviously they're wrong...

The Auto North article about Canada's option packages is probably not hard fact either, but it's as good as I've seen about Canada or the US.

Promise this is it with Photoshopping randomly and then posting the results -- three basic colours in iridescent paint (was hard to do anything but these three colours properly in Photoshop -- green probably should be much darker, for the sake of not looking crappy):
