The Ultimate 2009 Ralliart Thread mega merge
The specs show same size disks as the GTS but smaller swept area. Not quite sure why since the RA has another 400 lbs or so deal with. I read somewhere that the GTS has the same brakes as the Endeavor, which weighs in at some 3900 lbs. So maybe they figured it was overkill and are trying to save a few lbs with smaller calipers?

That's obviously just a dummy sheet, but at least it has heated mirrors to justify the thousands of dollars in price difference between Canada and the US (Mitsubishi isn't so bad on pricing between Canada and the US, but still, those $10k heated mirrors we get in Canada are always a bit overpriced... that and bilingual labelling, I suppose :-)
I see the upgraded Recaros are missing from the premium package (on the dummy sheet), even though they were in the Canadian press on the show. Once again, nothing but confusion on comfort and convenience features -- guess we just have to wait.

So if the RA is supposed to have SST ONLY..... why does this one have a 5-speed ô.O

From what I've read about the Evo SST, anyways, you can control shift points entirely with the paddle buttons except on launch, where you're limited to 5k rpms. Unless you go full auto mode, all it does it take your leg out of it. That's not nothing, I realize, but it's a compromise I'm willing to accept after initial resistance to the impending death of MTX.

One point to add about an auto tranny. The reason people break things launching the evo is because you have to set the factory launch limiter quite high to build boost. No more with the SST. Just power brake it. With a smaller turbo than the X boost should come on very early. I am thinking/hoping early enough to get almost full boost just by power braking it. Not to mention the much much reduced stress on everything because you are no longer shocking the driveline by dumping the clutch.

thats what the paddle shifters are for. the only down side is launching but im sure some ppl will get over that(maybe).

i would hope early fall at the latest.
