Car and Driver Comparo is out
Do you actually know the streets are not straight, right? There is many turns , some times you need to slow down also. Now try to mix the whole picture up, and you will see the driving feeling is way more then a 2-3 or any gear pull only.
And i can go on.
Some times i wonder, this is real?
Agreed, but on the street the feel is the same for 10k less. Same as the EVO, if you get on a track it is a different story, buy how many people actual use there cars on a track. Drag strip probably a little more. So in a round town kind of way, the WRX is stepping on the STI toes. Maybe not in terms of quality, refinement and technology, but in a straight line it is very close.
how could i describe a difference for you , when you actually come back with the 1/4 mile time, and compere the WRX feeling to the Evo as a same?

And if you judge the merits of a car on how good it is in a street race you are clearly not very bright.
Steering feel , break feed back, lane change so car attitude etc.
there is a whole different league.
When i'm telling you , you need to drive an evo after a RA or the WRX , you will know what i'm talking about.
No racing need to get the feel , period.
Read again, street acceleration is going to feel the same. If the numbers are near the same it has to feel the same. I am not discussing street/track racing. I can see this is going nowhere as everyone is up in arms. How can it be different? Push in your back is push in your back.
And again, feel is not purely a 0-60 thing or a 1/4 mile thing. As an obvious example, take a 400 HP Evo and compare it to a Corvette. The 0-60 times are probably pretty close as are the 1/4 mile times but the cars will feel inherently different.
WRX (SEDAN) 0-60 4.7, 1/4 13.5@102, top speed 142 (governed),
I bet anything, this was a ringer. This is everyone's first look at the new WRX, and I bet Subaru wanted first impression to really count! Officialy the WRX now has 265hp, and weighs 3200lbs... do the math.
I bet anything the car car-n-drive rtested was running 3-4 more psi
Same story when all mags first tested the nissan GTR, and came back with insane #'s!!
This isnt news! Car-n-driver has already had a ringer a couple times in the recent years. in fact, in 2006 when it tested the first IX, they ran much faster than every other magazine, and they figured it was probably a "hot car"
It wasn't a ringer, it seems like a lot of reviews are getting times around that. You're also negating the AWD advantage hence the low 0-60 time. An evo only has 285 HP but it can pull off a 12.X second 1/4 time.

the clear winner in every category was a X.
nope. the sti had more into it if i'm right. and even cost more too. but i'm not sure i have to dig that one up
the STI is 426 hp and 455 tq weights 3250 lb
mean while the X is 403 hp -354 tq and weights 3500 lb.
so the deficit for the X is 26 hp- 101 tq / :0 / and 250 lb....
