Is Evo worth the $ difference over Ralliart?
I bet that at least 4 or 5 more people respond to that comment in the same manner. What a dumb thing to say. If I were the moderator of this section, I would delete that comment and all those responding to it. It makes the forum look bad. I should have thought better of saying anything.
Its all about demographics..aim toward a specific consumer. different cars different needs different wants. EVERY car will have its + and -'s. All that matters is your pleased with your choice of vehicle at the end of the day.
One word: Sportback.
Wanting a useful Hatch with AWD, and some sportiness, I looked at the Subaru WRX, Mazda Speed3 and the Audi A3.
The RA met all of my needs, and is one of the best all-around cars I have driven. The Evo MR is a fantastic car, but is it worth the extra 10k? Depends on what you are looking for, do you want to go Sti hunting? or Autocross? then you may want an Evo, but if you want a good DD that you can take out to the back country on the weekends, then the RA is a good choice.
Hard to do this in an Evo:

simple answer to this post....yes! lol unless money is an issue at the moment...but if money is an issue then i would hold off on buying a performance car until i could afford the evo + maintenance costs for sure!
Wow. I thought we were all car people here, I did not know that owning a Ralliart made me a lower class ?
Of course, I, like many others I am sure, own more than one car, and just because we do not own an Evo, does not make us unable to talk about one.
For reference;
2010 ralliart sportback
2006 navigator
1973 hemi roadrunner
1962 corvette
1963 impalla
1966 mustang
1955 bel air
1957 bel air
I just happen to like the way the Ralliart drives,
Cheers

I don't know why people in here keep on insisting the two cars are way different but at the same time say things like "if I add x or improve y, I'll have evo performance." Thats not even what this topic is about..It's like saying a civic with a viper engine will beat a ferrari in a straight line.
I think this topic should stay out of mods. Keep it simple, compare the two vehicles stock for stock.
I am sure the guys who engineered the evo will LOL if they see the comments in here made by some people. Or they can just put coilovers on the RA with a 1000 custom tune and bolt ons and sell that as the evo. Ohh wait, or they can just put a tune & i/h/e in the evo X and sell it as a 4 door GTR.

an evo is just a "lancer" its the make. i wouldnt say its just a lancer. i would say its a FXCKIN RALLIART
True statement No maintenance with Brembos...change the pad like any other vehicle.
I was looking into the RA. It was either RA or used IX. It was a pretty big choice actually. New car or used. But i found a bone stock IX MR for 27k with only 16k miles. But aside from that, I really wanted a manual and i knew the IX was a land rocket waiting for the right parts.
But for you RA guys a 4B11T is awesome...upgrade the turbo, fuel pump, tune and wham your on par with a X on a straight line. Just dont know enough about your transmission or its limits.

Most people can get a Ralliart for $24k, and a turbo swap along with better tires still put you at a much lesser cost than a $35k Evo X.
If you're looking for a car with lesser maintenance cost, a "better" DD, and something to drag race more with lesser issues go Ralliart. The Evo X is a much better car on track hands down due to its Active Yaw Control, but just from driving one you can tell it was made for track only use and not so much drag racing like the Evo IX would be looked at as.
Some one would go for the ralliart simply because its the best idea for some one looking to modify there car and of course would like an automatic. you can discuss or argue all you want if you want a 5 speed sure a gsr is a good option but its a slap in the face since evos of the past are 6 speeds, in terms of performance theres not much of a difference and what youre going to pay for is dealer/ manufacturer mark up for the performance you do get. Single scroll turbos are more reliable than a twin. The suspension isnt the best the bbs wheels arent all that attractive and a little to small for the fendor wells. I absolutly love mitsubishi have since i was a teen watching 1st and second gen gsrs/talons and lasers rip it up. But to put it bluntly a fully loaded ralliart (you can get ricaros for it also) still comes in at a base line evo price so for the extra money youd spend on an evo you could be making youre car better than evo. Most people dont want 800 hp even if i had the money to go buy a brand new evo id pickthe ralliart there are less mods for them but there are stilk mods out there and for asimple turbo back.and a tune youll be faster than an evo. So if you want an evo buy one if you. Want a ralliart buy one its personal prefference these are my opinions and how my own self looks at the difference there in no way meant to start an arguement its just the way i look at it
