I recently had to take it in to the dealer, so I had to go through the reverse of this process again.

The following took me 3 hours:
  1. Remove shielding, snorkel, bumper
  2. Remove battery
  3. Remove and swap IC pipes (EvoX to RA parts)
  4. Remove and swap intercooler (EvoX to RA)
  5. Replace battery
  6. Replace shielding, snorkel, bumper
  7. Swap boost pill
  8. Reflash ECU

If it's your first time, it will definitely take longer...4-5 hours. I'm already familiar with how to remove the bumper and all the different parts, so there was no guess work for me.

Comparison of T1R's funnel and the stock RA:

The aftermarket "funnel" doesnt have a place for the boost line to go like the stock one does. What do u do with the line that goes in the stock spot?

There is a brass fitting that screws into that hole (not pictured) which comes with the T1R kit.

I have been running the GST maps for a while with no issues, except some jerky shifting. I flashed the v2.5 93oct maps this evening, and it felt really smooth.

+1. if you look right by the flange that bolts to the turbo, you can see the bung welded onto the funnel where the nipple would thread in

Yeah I c it now. Do all aftermarket uicp come with the nipple. The reason I ask I was looking at different uicp and the discription of the synapse one says "The Synapse UICP retains the OEM turbo discharge pipe and maintains the OEM boost-only source fitting to connect to the wastegate for a much more stable boost control source. Competing designs require elimination of this crucial component requiring the use of vacuum for wastegate and boost control. This leads to potential variances in overall system performance. The OEM wastegate's diaphragm is not designed to take vacuum (negative pressure) and can lead to diaphragm failure and a system vacuum leak that will be difficult to troubleshoot." If they dont come with that my understanding of what the discription is saying is that you run the vaccum hose that normally goes there to a different vaccum source.

As far as I'm aware, most kits re-use the stock RA funnel (or stock Evo funnel). I can't see how eliminating the nipple from the funnel would be a good design choice for mild mod setups.

i think the ones that eliminate the nipple are geared more for full-build setups using aftermarket or external wastegates that would requre a slight modification to hose routing anyways, or eliminate it completely like on an electric wastegate setup.
