so um...wtf? run 2 has got to be a fluke? the map trace is identical to run #1 from 4500rpm to redline, yet it knocked, requested timing was almost identical also. i created this new map by requesting what it the last map was pulling down too.

provided this graph.

have a track day this weekend...so its gonna get mildly flogged....
For the sake of consistency and safety for the track day, I would drop a degree starting at 6500.

My track day map is considerably more conservative than my regular street map. I switch to 94 octane but with the less aggressive tune I end up making about the same power as I do on my aggressive 91 oct street map.

well, how low can i go before im too low?. the 3 clean runs are already down at 7* at 6k, 8* at 6500, and about 10* at 7k.

interestingly enough, graphing the knock voltage of a clean run that shows no knock sum versus the crappy run, they are extremely similar...but im not very clear on how to use knock voltage.

yes and no. i think if i go lower, then that is a possibility. i was running higher timing basically because i shifted a load column to the left after installing my cat. i turned it down 1 degree and it cleaned up. id have to double check what my numbers were last summer, but it was higher, and low to no knock.

last logs i did with test pipe were
8*@6k
10*@6500
12*@7k
13* @ redline

with minimal knock. then randomly on that map i was getting 4 counts above 6k. now that i look at the current table more...im starting to think its some bad gas...my timing map is heading deep into 91oct territory

Those numbers look good, but your EGT's must be pretty high with only 10* at 7k.

I can also only manage about 10° at 7k on 91oct. EGT's when road-racing get up to ~1550-1570 at the top of 4th gear.

i ran some more logs this morning with a tiny little change to the map. now its only knocking above 7200. long story short, i never see those rpm's except when tuning.

its my first time on track in the evo...if i drive over 3/10's id be amazed, so i think ill survive till i can figure out what the hell is going on. im really starting to think i have a weak tank of gas, the car has never knocked like this before, and there is no way adding a UICP and a hi flo can push you down to 91oct like numbers.

no idea. the knock profile keeps changing, and is not being very helpful in trying to show me whats actually going on right now. the knock voltage is even more confusing.

the map is here. car basically runs right up the 220 load column after initial boost hit.

for the setup, and 93 octane, i think this map should not be knocking...so i think something is going on.
