I myself leave the fuel low oct as standard oct map: my afrs are conservative as it is so richening up isn't as helpful. Ive seen rich knock in the 10's and my afrs are. Low 11's.

Injector duty cycles are high where you are getting the knock. Do you have any previous logs from before you put the pipe on? Maybe it's making you run lean now. Only thing I can think of.

the idc's are fine, but i will definitely not push them higher. ecu flash is off by a minimum of like 5%.

all my logs are on my other computer ill try and dig something up, but it was taking more timing with no knock at that point. not quite sure how a cat would lean me out...although i could see it raising backpressure/egt's...

My bad man, I didn't read the whole thread/forgot. Just trying to help. I guess that you had a test pipe before and then went to a cat? I was thinking you went to high flow from stock. That would lean you out I believe. Anyhow, a previous log may help to compare. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I like my **** smooth. That's an awful lot of timing at peak torque.

You're probably leaner than you think. Putting an exhaust or test pipe will make you run leaner. This is a log of mine with a similar knock pattern:

You can see the combination of aggressive timing and lean-ish condition can give you knock. Not sure what gas you're using too.

im sorry, but i still dont see how putting a cat on the car will effect mixture, i may be wrong, so if someone could explain the theory...because its totally not making sense in my head.

its 93 octane, and the timing is not very aggressive. afr's were tuned to about 11.5 if i recall.

it shouldnt unless you go from the stock cat to a HFC/TP (because they flow more air, lol)

yeah i didnt think so...plus wideband sensor was/will be in front of the cat.

I can't really theorize a good reason for why a testpipe/HFC leans out the tune but I know it does from my own experience. When I swap between a HFC (a friggin' high flow 100cel 3.5inch catco at that) to my test pipe my tune goes a little leaner. Measured with my AEM wideband on the downpipe for both.

Regardless of the cause your knock seems to need a rework of the tune. So might as well just do it. Or wait to put on your wideband and do it.

In regards to the low octane maps I can agree with killerpenguin that its a nice safety feature but only against bad gas. As for when your tuning I set them to the same as my high octane maps to keep it consistent. When the tune is finished I adjust the low octane maps to add back in the safety feature. I only run a few degrees of timing difference.
