Hey Baka,

If I were to do a downpipe with external dump and a high flow cat, but retain stock exhaust from cat back (don't want too high of a noise level), would I still want to run stage 1 maps for a 2011 GSR?

Also, a slight spike to 27 is not the same as holding 24 for 2000 RpM

Sometimes the "peak" you see is just a quick blip.

Regardless i have tuned the 2011 basemaps from 24-28psi so whatever it runs its AOK !!! The 2011 Maps i have also include some boost pill maps (not released yet)
that run 28 psi from 3000-5500/6000 and drops to like 22
Thos e maps run the same timing and fuel maps as the regular basemaps the boost is just different
We're definitely looking forward to the new maps. I'm guessing that boost pill map is for Stage 2?

Will we see a dyno graph of '11 GSR Stage 2 with Pill mod pushing 28 PSI? Now that would be nice

Hate to break it to you but the WG opens a bit @ like 12-15 psi and will be loud regardless....

Run a AMS Dp and a Highflow Cat pipe and stock Exhaust and you will be fine
You can run stage 1 maps on it as well (Stage 2 is coming soon, i have cars comin in for the mapping soon!)

Thanks!

Does an open dump mess with anything?

What gains would I expect with a high flow cat, and an AMS DP - with keeping the stock exhaust?

And when stage 2 is released, I could just switch over without issue... right?

open dump just frees up a little bit of exhaust space and makes a **** load of noise thats all on a car running a stage 1 or 2 ots map you do not need a dump tube

so what is exactly the requirements for stage 2? it says "full cat back system" does that means: a down pipe, high flow, and cat back ?

what if I just install the DP alone? I think that's enough to release a lot of back pressure right?

I also wanna hear that b/c I keep hearing an aftermarket DP doesn't do anything for a Stage 2 car , whereas it is a must for STIs

That statement suggests there's no need to tune for an aftermarket downpipe?

NO that statement suggests

ONCE YOU SWAP OUT YOUR STOCK CAT YOU ARE NOW STAGE 2

If you put a AMS down pipe on a stock cat... well sir you have issues and need
AMS/ETS/T1R are FULL downpipes and need tuning, Cobb/Greddy/MXP are just the lower part and shouldn't need any adjustment for.

Just to clarify, when you get a full downpipe, you need tuning besides the OTS Stage 2?

it is funny that I searched forums but couldn't find any legit information about anything, pretty interesting there is nothing in stickies section...

People say so many different things so it's really hard to say what mods give me what kind of gains, what mods are safe to run with OTS maps , what mods require a custom tune..

So what is a full down pipe? I thought downpipe on Evos are smaller than the STIs and mid section(test pipe or high flow cat pipe whatever you call it) is the pipe right after the downpipe.
Would it be safe to say STI downpipe size is divided into two sections as Downpipe and testpipe(or cat pipe) on EVOs ? I am asking because cat is located on the DP on the STIs..
So instead of downpipe and Catback , we have 3 separate parts on Evo ( I guess).. I also hear Downpipe is a waste of money since the bottleneck is the mid section(test-pipe or Catted pipe) and the catback , as opposed to STIs because in order to run Stage 2 OTS map on the STIs al you have to do is changing your Downpipe, CBE is waste of money only good for additional 3-4 whp ..

Also , that would be nice to hear why COBB states that the OTS stage 2 map is designed for full TBE ..
when we say TBE, we mean Turbo back exhaust right? downpipe, testpipe, catback all together? because I am completely lost

i think you answered your own question - turbo back exhaust = everything behind the turbo... downpipe, cat/test pipe, catback exhaust in that order.

I don't think he answered his own question

It was stated that as long as stock cat is out, the car is stage 2, while map notes for Cobb Stage 2 clearly requires full TBE.
