I see what you are saying. You just want to clean off the tires with a quick spin. With that being done it also warms them up a little bit. Right?

You should edit a little video on step by step on what to do. Like with a burn out.

+2 on the video. Most-Wanted that is a pretty interesting launch method you have. I've always had bad luck going through the water box. I still spin badly after a small burnout. All I could figure is that maybe I still have some water that's stuck in the tire tread. Avoiding the water box always netted me the best 60 foots. 1.7 60 foots are the best I could do so far. I'm always open for new ideas.

Yeah, try it out. I've done 1.59's and when I handed this set up over to Stryker he went from high 1.69's-1.60's. This was all done in near full weight evo on the Falken azeni's in 18". This was back to back. He did his runs and then I made him switch over BAM, first pass dropped .1 and gave him the record run. I've only ever had one person say he just couldnt get a better 60' with this method. So for most it works.

So do the water burnout? I've always thought that awd had enough traction to begin with but I guess not and even awd cars can benefit by getting the tires a little hot and sticky.

Well, thanks for the advice. I just got my transmission rebuilt and a freshened up Twin Disk, as soon as I break everything in I'll try out your launch technique at the drag strip.

Glad you like it. Its what seems to work best for me. It might not be the best for everyone, but it has served me well. Good luck...

so far my best has been 11.77 @ 117. i think i can do a lot better after reading about tire pressure and using the launch control.

A big problem I am having, which I think is causing some of my launching issues, is the fact that I dump the clutch too fast. My old clutch would slip still netting some great 60' times, but now with the triple exedy, it doesn't slip at all.

What would be the best advice for slipping these tough clutches. I have been told the best is just to WOT the gas, then steady, yet pretty quickly pull my foot off the clutch. It's just hard to break my habbit of FWD and slicks, when I would just dump and go. My shifts are pretty dead on, so I am not too worried there, I just have to get this damn first half down!

Yup, WOT so you are on the two step and slightly slip it to avoid heavy shock. Its hard because of the typeof clutches, but you'll get use to it. When I switched to my Tilton I thought I would never be able to launch again like I use to. But I finally got comfortable and you will too.

Im in a 03 8 with a ported 9 turbo and the other's mods in my signature and the best I have pulled off was 12.3@115 with a 1.7 60ft. That pass was done at night on a test and tune session tire pressure was still 30 psi no burn out.

Then this pass weekend at the Show Down I was running 12.3 @110 with the same 1.7 60ft. This time though I dropped the air pressure to 17 front and 15 rear and did a burner every time.

I lost 5 mph but netting the same time. Im guessing because of the heat. No excuses because I have not been able to get it out of the 12's yet. Im using NLTS also with a act clutch and flywheel which has to go. A SPEC twin will be going in soon hopefully I feel thats a lot of the problem.

So I guess its better (street tires) to launch higher and let the tires spin (though minimizing it with lower tire pressure and clutch slipping), than to try to keep lowering the 2-step until you get full grip? And with the recommended 6400rpm starting point, whats the lowest RPM we should allow during any bog as the clutch starts to really grab? 5500ish?

Well every car will be slightly different based on weight, tires, power, and driving preference. But I have never liked launching with anything less than 6000 rpm. Its always better for the tire to spin slightly then biting and bogging. I always shoot for the high side and fan the clutch more or less depending on traction that day. Meaning, I hardly ever adjust my 2 step. I adjust my clutch foot My 2 step has been set to 7200 forever.
