EvolutionM.net Tuner Time Attack Challenge

Al, Since you can't post in this forum, I mentioned your name as a tuner in a possible Time Attack Challenge.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=87848

Maybe you would be interested, or some of your users?

Well, most of the tuners are on the west coast (including the Buschur sponsored car). I would love it to be somewhere where I could drive, too.

I would be more interested in a contest which included other testing criteia becase in time attak its 90% driver which means it would boil down to who ever was able to recruit the best driver and I can't afford Micheal Schumacer

I woudl lke to see a dyno contest - drag contest - breaking contest and also a road course all combined in one weekend -

and to see it in the middle of the usa so its a fair trip for bth east coast and west coast

I want to keep this simple. Just a time attack, more fun. Yes, driver/suspension/brakes/engine will all be very important. I think the quartmile time and dyno shootout has been beat to death. Just as though some choose you for your great 1/4 mile achievements, what about who's suspension and braking to choose? I don't think we need another 3 day, prepare your car for 5 weeks test.

After all, we already have 2 Mitsubishi only drag events.

And I'm sure there are some of your clients who are capable drivers.

I am as big of a roadrace fan as any but adding adding a dyno, braking and quarter fun would add to the event a lot and make it more meaningful. This hasn't been done in a invite all qualified cars way yet. An internet based event might cover it though...

I updated the preliminary plans

2 Day event
1st day - Time Trials
2nd day - 1/4mi and dyno shootout (Portable dynapack dyno at the track)
[Must do both events]

And you could ship your car out, and fly out for the event.

Al, are you interested in this? It may or may not have a drag event (logistics up in the air). It will consist of a road course time attack challenge, and possibly a drag event. I have nine entrants so far.

IF its just seeing who can hire the most talented road racer to drive my car I am not interested

It's going have a road course, a similar structure to the recent magazine article in sport compact car. Mark is trying to find out if it is logistically possible to make it a two day event with a drag event. But, if you enter you will have to do both events in order to place. And it won't be strickly about driver, as suspension, braking and horsepower are all very important on a road course. I'm sure we could find you a driver if you want.

I think the whole stick some giant racing R tires on your evo and get a professional driver to exert some talents on a road course and claim you are the world's hero tuner is beyond beat to death.

To me its pointless to engage in a contest which largely depends on driver skill as I have NO intentions to let any one else drive my car and I also have no skill or desire to go road racing.

Last time I looked - it seemed like most major car magazines test cars by acceleration and stopping power. WHP and 1/4 mile times give a good indication of the car's tuning and engine design and showcase the products used in the car. Driving around a track showcases the driver. We all know that a guy like Sterling Moss could lay down the smack on 99.99% of drivers - even in an underpowered slower car - why - becuase of extraordinary skill and talent.

Finally - if this is to be a national event - it seems narrow minded to set it up on the west coast.

While it is very appreciated and flattering to be included in the invitation to this event . . . . .

On account of the geographical logistics and rather limited scope of this compitition I must decline the opportunity to attend such an event

With that said - I STILL harbor the fantasy of organizing a national Evo tuner shootout which would include auto cross, drag racing, dyno contest, stopping, skid pad, etc etc etc contests and give an opportunity to compare cars and tuners - NOT drivers

I wish all participants in this road racinging contest the best of luck - a safe contest and a great time
