It is old now, but there is a thread about logging MIVEC. Those are the correct addresses, the main thing is getting the formula correct.

Would the map formula match the actual formula? Similar to timing map and afr map matching ?

I log the actual mivec fine

Ohh you are looking for target mivec addresses? For 8858 try 75DE and 75DF. Should match to actual mivec.

I would suggest JohnBradley's mivec map for S2 cams that he posted earlier. I think it will cover you. I use it unmodified. Albiet time consuming to enter manually.

So use the one that has advance all the way out to redline? I read a page or 2 back that 10* on mivec is actually 0 overlap. Is that true? So at 0* it would be retarded 10*?

Well thats relative to an VIII and even then its a little different still. The cam timing for the IX swings from 0*-30* BTDC IVO on stock cams, an Evo 8 is 19* BTDC at "0".

So where "about" with a 9 on cossie M2 is 0 overlap. Also I have read that too much mivec will cause knock and that mivec will not cause knock. Is it usually better to back down mivec and use ignition timing or run aggressive mivec and lessen ign timing? I know every car is different but I'm having problems with not being able to run normal timing. 1-2* at peak tq and 7* at 7500
