MIVEC tuning
Theories I don't quite understand and have the means to test. Jb says he has evolved from that, but it still probably cuts the cheese for me! If in switch back to maf ill do more testing of my own.
Understandable , my only concern with these S2s on my car is the driveability in low speeds, parking lots, etc.
It's relative to back pressure
Smaller turbo more back pressure less overlap up top, and faster taper from peak advance.
Afaik..

but it has a small exhaust housing so does that mean I probably have a lot of back pressure? Should I still tailor my mivec map towards a small turbo at high rpms and boost? Also can anyone point me in the right direction for a good mivec map for the fp4r cam?
Here's what i came up with after Reading a lot of theory about Valve Timing and taking into consideration my Kelford 272 cams.

Ill Explain from what i have learned. This is THEORY, NOT fact.
Valve Train overlap:
Effects of Advanced Intake Timing:
Effects of Retarded Intake Timing:
What MrFred said sounds like some awesome theory to me, that the exhaust manifold back pressure being equal to or greater than the boost pressure is a bad scenario for valve overlap. So my stock turbo with its small turbine is going to equate to a High manifold pressure. I made sure to have my intake timing is as retarded as possible by redline. I am going -1.2, not sure if it really goes that low but since were supposed to have 30* of travel out of Mivec and it tops out at 28.8* i am assuming that the extra 1.2* is comming off the backend on the negative side hence -1.2*.

Valve Train overlap:
- Valve overlap doesn't work out so well for boosted engines.
- We don't take advantage of the scavenging effects that a Naturally Aspirated engine does.
- When there's valve over lap the exhaust is cooled slightly witch increases spool up time.
Effects of Advanced Intake Timing:
- Valves Close at BDC
- Good for low RPMS
- Bad For Spool
- Use in Low RPM High Boost
- Use Everywhere in very low rpm where turbo won't spool anyway.
Effects of Retarded Intake Timing:
- Valves close after BDC (so the charge continues to flow into the chamber via momentum)
- good for High RPM
- Good For Spool Up
- use in low-mid RPM to spool Turbo

Goal was : to have the best throttle response and smoothest driving at very low rpms 1500-2000 so I could drive at 37mph in 6th gear or climb a mountain in 6th at 50mph and it works.
Also work great to overtake on the highway.
Lost my logs but from what I remember I had nothing to gain after 4500rpm so it's going down from there.
Switching back to a more "tame" mivec map makes the car feels 10 years older and laggy.
Tried to smooth it up to get a nice round 3d shape, didn't feel as responsive.
This is not based on any theories simply on what works on my car
If you want to experience 80's turbo lag try zeroing all cells for fun.

2 cats and stock airbox
All I changed on the map I had in the beginning are the 1500-4000rpm 60-100load cells. Tried to use 30° as low as 50 load but it only made the car stutter and behave weirdly, again at very low rpms.
It's a daily driver mod more than anything.
Didn't see this one https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/5280497-post411.html gonna try it

Man I got these GSC R2 cams from the Kelfords and they knock like hell! Still make power tho. 30WHP over the Kelfords but im getting like 4 counts starting at 5000rpms then going away by 7000rpms not sure if I have too much advance at 5000 or what....
