The code that your ECU threw is emissions related. I doubt that it has something to do with the proper running of the car. I have yet to throw a code with my JDM MAP sensor. I am sure that mrfred will figure a cure for this.

I was getting the same code before I installed the JDM map sensor. The EGR hoses were still attached, so I just disabled the test for it. I think i was due to not having the Baro sensor hooked up.

Yeah I figured "mrfred" will eventually come up with something. I just was hoping it had already been fixed and I had just missed it.

I got under my car tonight just to verify that all of my EGR lines were still connected properly, as I've read that some people have had them pop off and this could throw the same code. But all of my EGR lines appear to be connected and just fine. The car has ~13,500 miles on it right now so it's still fairly new.

If this code keeps popping up more frequently then I might have to switch back to the USDM sensor. But if it only occurs once a month or so (since it's been about a month since I first installed my sensor), then I can just keep clearing it and wait for a fix.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I am indeed working to find a fix. I have learned enough assembly language to be able to find some 1D MAP sensor comparison tables that were previously overlooked. I don't think they are related to a P0401 code though. Give me a week or so to further analyze the code.

EGR test

If this is to basic, sorry about that, but if not it might be helpful.

On my old Z28 EGR tests also crop up as CEL's.

The way they work is to switch on the EGR and look for the drop of manifold pressure sensed by the MAP sensor. If they don't see the drop, then they throw the code.

Since the 3bar has a different output in pressure/volt , the ECU may not be getting the pressure drop signal it expects to see and throwing a code.

As an example, I had a bad map sensor, and I kept getting egr codes on the Z28, changed the MAP sensor and no further problems.

I wish I knew how to change the code, and test my theory, but I don't have a clue.
