I'm confused. UCB was actually hitting 28psi on straight 91oct without negative timing and without knock, and then adjusted it downward to 23psi on purpose to obtain 300wtq? Why would he/you do this?

For the record, my car is still reportedly hitting 28psi (according to the JDM MAP) without knocking and without negative timing, so I'm curious as to why you'd intentionally lower the boost (giving up about 50wtq) if you were able to get away with it. I must be missing something.

I have no desire to push the limits of the car in such a fashion. Im plenty happy with 306whp/300ftlbs on 91 **** right now. Maybe Ill revist that 28psi curve when im on C16. For 100 I'll shoot for 26psi I believe

And that log was at night, who knows what it would do in 95degree weather

And 300ftlbs on this dyno is nothing to scoff about...a B7 Audi S4 was on the dyno that day and only put down 220whp/220ftlbs.

I understand, and forgive me if it sounded like I was scoffing at your 300wtq.

With regard to the viability of this tune in hot weather, I've recently driven mine in 90*F degree ambient temps with no increase in knock activity, though it may be due in part to the fact that the stock BCS is controlling the boost and correcting with ambient changes.

Just for reference (I am trying to reconcile some of the numbers in a log I did yesterday), can you tell me what was the max 2 byte load you were hitting and also the 2 byte load you were hitting at peak boost. I am just trying to correlate boost level to load level for my log, since I don't trust my Defi.

I hit about 280 at peak torque. When I was over-boosting in 5th I hit 310 via 2-byte load, but dont completely trust that since timing didnt go negative

Thanks for the info.

I think I better turn my boost down just a pinch, I hit 282 at peak torque then followed by 272 and 260's, with only one knock count. The Defi registered a peak of 24psi, I am eager to get my JDM MAP sensor, to get a better sense of how the car is boosting in order to avoid any issues as the weather starts to cool down.

I've seen defi's as much as 2psi off before. More are about 1psi off.

I regularly hit 320 at peak load and run 247 at 7k during 3rd gear pulls.

Yeah I know, kind of a bummer since the stupid gauge isn't exactly cheap. Like I said that is why I can't wait to get my JDM MAP sensor, to keep those spikes in check. For reference the 282 spike was at 3500RPM, while at 7K I am around 221. I am just trying to correlate these numbers to boost for own sanity , but I read earlier that there is really no direct correlation between load and boost, only a formula that assumes that 100 load is 0psi and above that simply mutiply ( load -100 ) by 0.14503 or the atmospheric pressure if I understood correctly. Thanks to everyone for sharing their numbers.

When you test the sensor do you have it wired to the car with a false boost source such as a tire pump mrfred and then take voltage readings also what do you use to determine what voltage is what amount of pressure???? A boost gauge?

Or an accurate tire gauge if you are testing it in the car with a boost leak setup. If you can be sure that the tire gauge is accurate.

Yeah!!! So, has the random cel issue been fixed yet? . And for those with 05 Evo VIII's and rom ID: 96940011...how much of a problem has this been (if it isn't fixed)?

All CEL issues with all ROMs have been fixed. Got that done a few months ago. :-) Its all in the latest setup instructions.
