EDIT. I take that back. The newer AEM's do indeed look like Kalvicos as well.
Even if they are made by different companies its possible the output is extremely close to one another

The Kalivco sensors produce a voltage ranging from 0.5 to 4.5 volts to cover 0 to whatever psi, so the scaling is different than most other sensors that produce a voltage from 0 - 5 V. Not sure why they do that, but its a waste of resolution.

mrfred,

I noticed you have 96940011 supported, but with the new SD patch, I am assuming that 96940011 won't be able to accomodate SD because of the size restriction in the ROM, the same issue why there is not tephra mod v5.x for that ROM.

Seeing that most people are converting to the 96530006 ROM, can you support this ROM with this patch? I noticed you already have MAT logging for 96530006, so this patch would get it ready for SD.

I have had a map sensor and IAT sensor installed for a while (I'm still on original 96940011), so if/when 96530006 is patched for this and SD, I can convert over and do some testing.

Getting some cross-thread discussion going on here. :-) No prob to setup SD on either 96940011 or 96530006. The SD patch replaces existing code, so no extra space needed.

Ah well doing some reading myself I see that is the case.

I don't see the 4 volt range being an issue though with the high resolution ADC.

Sweet. I would love to stay with 96940011, but thinking toward the future and potential flex fuel sensor mods, etc, I think 96530006 would be the better bet since 96940011 doesn't support tephra v5.x and the alt map features.

If both can be done, great. I just think that we need both of your patches for either. 96940011 has this patch and 96530006 has the MAT patch, but neither has both.

Its only 20% loss in resolution, so its not a true issue, but I'd take the Omni 4 bar over a Kalivco anyday.

Seems that the 96530006 is working for everyone, so I'll probably do the SD patch there and call it good.

Think you can help me out with a direct boost control mod?

I could probably implement it as is but the resolution maybe wouldn't be so great

The AEM sensors are Kavlico sensors just like the Zeitronix.

They come in 3.5 and 5 bar flavors of course. RoadSpike has the 5 bar going, I have a 3.5 I'd love to get on the car, if it can be used for direct boost control.

Is this a reality at this point? If the boost control would work I'd love it forever. I'll do whatever I can to help make it a reality, just keep in mind I know nothing about dissasem or anything....

You have to buy adapters i documented mine here.

Not a problem, I've got like 100 audi/vw plugs out back. Some porsches too. Are there any values you need to change in the boost control mapping to make it read the different sensor, or is all that a plugged value after the ecu has calc'd that value?

I think the biggest changes are the scaling noted at the beginning of this thread. A couple pages back i posted the 3.5 bar scalings too. I'd like MrFred to confirm that though

so if one uses the other map sensors besides the JDM 3 bar one, are there any changes that need to be made to the boost control code(for using ecu direct based boost control..) to make it work correctly with the different sensor?

For the 94170008-0015 ROMs, almost any sensor will work with no additional changes. The other ROMs may not idle properly or throw a CEL without tuning some of the table values for the specific MAP sensor.
