so you're putting 20W through a 10W resistor. thats a great way to burn it out, or start a fire.

and then you're putting 2 in parallel, which i said previously doubles your heat output, and current draw.
you should really leave the experiments to someone who knows the basics. or use one of the setups that have already been verified to work.
I hate you!

I'm JK I took it out when I saw it still left a CEL. I just didn't want to leave Radio Shack empty handed. I'll order one off the internet in the link above.

ok im so confused.

1st let me explain my issues. im up for inspection and i have a rear o2 sensor cel light on.

my question is

is there a way to disable it so i dont get a cel light AND have it able to pass the ready test checks and pass emissions/inspection.??? if so how?? because all this 2 of this and that 50 ohms and stuff is all so confusing for me. and this thread seems to be all over the place. so can someone help me get right to the point on what i need to do to achieve what im looking for..... thanks guys

update. incase it is needed i HAD a evo8 0008 rom and about 2 months ago updated to a 0015 map

Well, which CEL are you getting? The heater circuit or the signal? A single 50 ohm,10 watt ceremic resistor from radioshack is sufficient to stop the CEL at the very least to get you to pass emissions.

so if i understand this right your saying to goto radioshack and pick up a 50ohm, 10watt ceramic resister and i will not get a cel and i will be able to pass the ready tests for emissions???

Yea thats what Im thinking Dan lets give it a shot. Do you already have the ECU modded to eliminate the rear O2 (Not the heater but the actual O2 signal). If so lets just try the resistor trick and run it through Scan Tech

BTW I went to order one from that site and they didn't have any in stock. I just ended up ordering a 2 pack off Ebay for $5 shipped.

We will need to mod the rom or your going to get a P0420 along with the Heater circuit code. Its easy though

You can use any that you can find. As long as it is 5 watts or greater and 5% tolerance or better.

instructions say on page one

Step 2
Disable the Rear O2 routine in the ROM
  • Update the ECUFlash XML file located at: C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo\ 88590015.xml
    using FrontPage or other XML editor to include the following entry so the code ends like this:
    <table name="ECU Periphery0" category="Misc" address="faa" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Hex16"/>
    </rom>
  • Open ECUFlash v1.3 and version 15 ROM image. Scroll down to the Misc section and locate the "ECU Periphery0" entry.
  • If the value for this entry is "0x56DA," press "=" on your keyboard and type "0x56D8" (without quotes) and press Enter. If the value for this entry is "0x56DB," press "=" on your keyboard and type "0x56D9" (without quotes) and press Enter.
  • Save the ROM image and flash your ECU with the new file
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

now i did this and i dont see the ecu periphery0 in the rom. does this not work with a 0015 rom for 03 evos???? or did i do something wrong.

Be sure that you're modifying *your* ROM's XML and not the ver15 ROM that is used exclusively on the Evo IX. Otherwise, you won't see the periphery entry when you open *your* ROM.

FYI - Reinstalling ECUFlash will give you your virgin xml files back.
