All I know is I followed the directions in the beginning of this thread and successfully used the 10k ohm resistor but when I started using Tephra's v5 patch I started getting a rear 02 CEL until I put in the 75 ohm resistor. I'm not sure why the 10k ohm worked before using Tephra's patch.

the 10K doesn't work. It takes a while for the code to be thrown. took me a full day of driving around, and it worked up until the next day - when i had to go get my inspection. had to swap it out for a 50Ohm before i went to get inspected.

Where have you guys been putting the connector and resistor. Are you leaving it outside the car? Inside the car under that carpet?
Has anyone tried a project enclosure box like this one
here
Its plastic so it might melt.
Anyone tried a metal enclosure box?

I use that exact same box. I mounted my resistor so its literally floating in the center of the box so it won't touch anything, if it rests on the sides it will melt the plastic(IT WILL MELT!!...trust me,lol). I made 1/4" holes on the side that rests on top to vent the heat a bit. I keep mine velcro'd on the left sidewall inside my glovebox. They give you a metal top with that box too, use that instead and have the heat vent up through that.

I understand how circuit wise the 10K shouldn't work but I drove around for 5 months with it in at never had the CEL come on until I used Tephra's v5 patch. Maybe its just some kind of fluke. Doesn't matter now I'm using a 75 ohm 10W tunnel resistor with Tephra's v5 and its working great, no heat issues either!

Mine says 10%, dammit! The Ebay auction didn't specify the tolerance.. damn I'll reorder one.. luckily they're so cheap I don't even care. LOL

BTW neither of my local Radio Shacks carry any project boxes in stock.

I have to say that after getting all the parts together for this thing, I am thinking I might not even bother. I got some resistors, old 02 sensors and cut the plugs of them so that I could make this resistor plug and play, and an encolsure box. And then I realized I am basically building an 02 sensor the just doesn't work. I might as well just leave in the factory 02 sensor as it is already plug and play, the correct resistance, made of metal and will not overheat and melt stuff.

I can still use the rear 02 input for logging my wideband. But this way I dont have to deal with getting an 02 bung plug and finding a place to mount the resistor in a box.

yeah thats the same conclusion I came to.

leave stock rear o2 in place, rewire the signal wire to wideband, run rear 02 simulator

If you can keep the rear O2 sensor installed, I'd always suggest doing that. The resistor trick is only useful for people with faulty rear O2's and for people who are using their rear O2 bung for a wideband.

I thought it would make it easier for when I drop the exhaust to not have to take out the 02 sensor...but to be honest its way less trouble to do that a bunch of times then it is to make the resistor unit.

The only other possible benefit is that the 02 sensor no longer blocks any exhaust flow. Although this is easily accomplished with a non-fouler as well.

Same thing happened to me.

yeah I believe disabling the FAA bit actually stops the heater code as well, just not the check.

Might be worthwhile investigating that more as it may give us a hint to disabling the heater check as well

I did the periphery thing you posted earlier in this thread and it worked. I don't have to worry about emissions, but the cels out.

Thumbs up

2x 100Amp/10W parallel connected in a box created from 2 90degrees bends works 100%

I have a JDM 2006 Evo ix.

i am currently running rom - 88580014 with Teprhra's Mod v5.10.

i am changing over to a 3" tBE exhaust, in addition JDM evos have no rear O2 Sensor.

i apologize for not reading all 27 pages, but is there a way to remove the CEL even though i don't have a rear O2 sensor?
