Ill lean it out once I sweep up the 17-18 psi mark for timing. I've seriously been banging my head for a while.
You have some trouble keeping SD consistent with weather change?
What variations do you get in AFR vs outside temp? Do you use fuel temp sensor as MAT?

Sometimes I think it's just my logger. Hence the windows 7 +aem serial thread below .

I'm not sure how boost pressure changes fuel in sd. Normally run up to 26+ so maybe it's rich because of the ve bein different at that boost level?

That's the purpose of the 3D VE

You don't hit the same cells that you'll hit at full boost when you'll finish tuning so don't mess with that. And thanks for the information, I thought you had AFR variations vs temperature while still hitting the same load cells.

I'm on 3d ve but I was getting at if I lean them out I think it gets too lean when crossing them to hit higher cells. So they're rich because the wastegate is normaly shut when those are hit. Not sure how accurate my experience is though

How does that second timing map look though?

Hard to tell without knowing:
What fuel/octane rating are you running the car with?
What will be your target boost when tuned?
The base looks ok to me. At 17psi you hit 300load, so at 26psi you'll need to redial your SD map because you'll get much over 360load. So at 26psi, I'd start from 1* to 11* on 93 octane to be conservative. Maybe a degree more on a VIII. It obviously depends on how conservative you want it, and many other mechanical factors.

Example: On 24psi on 91 octane I hit 2* at peak load (270) and 11* at 7500RPM. My car can take more On a IX, you'll run less because the MIVEC is increasing the engine VE.

Actually 28 psi is only 350 load. Sd slows down a bit as rpm increases. Kpa to load is 1:1 now. I've ran 30 psi with this map and its hardly over my scale. Ill be targeting 28 though.

Add Garrett 3.8 inch core to my mod list I forget above.

I'm using a jb mivec map. Normally run 14-15* at 20ish psi 7000 rpm 93 oct. that part is consistently there .. Lowend gives me the most trouble tuning .

My new 25 psi wga looking to hold 23 24 at redline.

Hoping the s2 cams will help shift right the torque enough to help my stock block.

I agree 15 at 20psi , but I'm sure you already know that you won't run that timing at 28. And it just didn't make sense you hit 300 at 17psi... this isn't 1:1 kpa/load. Beside that, you seem to be on the right way in my opinion Good luck!

300 load for 17 psi is really high.

So it knocks like crazy if you put more timing on spool up?

It was running like -7 degrees that's why I had to disable faa10. It kept knocking from that so I kept pulling timing lol. I was really chasing my tail with the timing map not marching the actual. I just thought it wanted to be lower and lower and lower

The ecu adds load if it makes more boost down low. Weird I know but that's how it works. 17 psi is only 230 or something like that after spool

Rats, what was the final resolution. I have been following that issue, because I also can't explain the difference between my map and the advance, even taking into account knock events. I got confused in your other thread, but it was mostly about tephra V7, which I am not running.

I have been fine tuning my timing map to eliminate knock at cruise, around 70 load, and I have needed to take out a lot, which is messing up my whole map, or reducing it. I was in the 1-2 counts finally, but I wondered how much timing I should be pulling, or what a reasonable timing value between 50-100 load, 2500-3000rpm should be for 91 oct.

The weird timing thing that Rats disabled and fixed his issue is available on all IX ROMs.

You should raise your knock load table up to 100+, to alleviate your cruise knock issue.

Get it back to stock and smooth it: OEM Evo runs from 35(+EGR advance) to near 20. This is a good starting point, you shouldn't knock at this timing and still got some low end. I also noticed that under 2500RPM at 80-110 load, without enough timing the car will feel very heavy on launch while not producing enough boost to compensate. You don't want to end up with low timing at tip-in (100load). Hold some 20*'s until 100-110 load. I guess that your knock is most likely not detonation related, Boosted Tuning gave you a good advice on this.

Which turbo and which boost control? No knock?
Smooth timing map. Considering your boost taper like crazy, this is why you can ramp timing as quick as that on a WOT run. I'd try to trade off timing for less taper if possible (direct ecu boost tuning/3port). Power would be higher at high rpm.
