Been thinking about the automatic rev limiter as a safety mod and was wondering if its possible to make an amendment to it.

Apologies if this has already been considered as I haven't read back through the whole post as I can't take advantage of this patch until it can be shown to be working with JB's live mapping on the UK and jdm romids.

anyway, I was thinking the auto valet mode is a great idea, especially with configurable rev limit as it has always had, but then I wondered what would happen if you accidentally stalled. You have to wait ten seconds to get the thing going again, and at traffic lights or in a jam, 10 seconds is a long time for poeple behind to not lose their temper, especially in london!

Anyhoo, was wondering if the auto valet mode could somehow avoid this by only enabling if, for example, the engine hasn't been on in say the last 5 mins or, if a timer isn't possible, if the coolant temperature is below a configurable temperature.

That way you could monitor your temps and determine what normal operating temp is for your own car, and set your auto immobilising threshold at any temp 2 degrees or more under that.

That way, accidental stalling wouldn't be a complete ballache!

Having said that, the timer is better if possible as it still works before your water is up to temp.

Any thoughts?

Adam - thats an interesting idea, at the moment auto-valet will only kick in once the key has been removed for a few seconds.

thus I think the example of stalling and then having problems starting again wont be an issue, feel free to test it out thou happy to make improvements thou

Prof - soon. I was meant to get my new car a week ago, and I will most likely get it tomorrow... take about 1 week to wrap up the current patch and release

OK, so you can confirm the 94170008 V4.2 ROM, I finally got it working. I think I may have had the wrong lean spool adresses in there so I don't know what value I changed... but it had some crazy side effects. All works well now including flawless map switching.

I tried this and there is ample time to restart the car before it re-engages.

Tephra: I got the fuel trims working so disregard that email I sent, if you haven't already,lol.

Tephra:
I've been playing around with the first few bits of the 94170015 rom you posted with the fast and slow knock cel feature, and I'm not sure the values are correct. When I added those lines to my current xml file and opened a rom it gave me some really off the wall numbers. This is what I have currently on my rom and it works fine, but it's not set up for fast and slow cel feature...should any of these values be used in place instead? I didn't copy the scaling, only difference between my scaling and the one you have in your xml add-on is the name's changed from "Flashtime" to "Ecutime".

<table name="Flash CEL on Knock?" category="Mods" address="3fbec" type="1D" scaling="uint16"/>

<table name="KnockSum Required for CEL" category="Mods" address="3fbee" type="1D" scaling="uint16"/>

<table name="Min Load for CEL on Knock" category="Mods" address="3fbf0" type="1D" scaling="Load"/>

<table name="CEL on Knock flash time" category="Mods" address="3fbf2" type="1D" scaling="Flashtime"/>

I did, but I see now that I'm an idiot...I forgot to use the appropriate .bin file you have posted with the xml changes. Comes up correct now, my apologies.

My apologies Dave, I didn't know it took time to re-enable. Kind of makes my point completely irrelevant and is far more simple!

I would love to try it, but

a) I don't think you have released a the updated patch for the UK ecus yet, and
b) I was hoping between you and john banks you would have the live mapping and your newly featured patches combined, and that wouldn't happen until you have settled on your final spec working patch.

btw. I still haven't been able to get nlts working!

4.8 will work with the IX's too. You just need a seperate switch added. Read HERE for info.
