you can run whatever tunes you like, however it is upto you to choose the right tune.
The ecu won't swap to the right map automatically... If you want to log which map the ECU is using then I can provide evoscan xml for that...

Its a manual thing, not automatic (at the moment). The user decides which map to activate. You COULD tune for 87 octane if you planned to NEVER boost while running that map I suppose.
In the future (not fully designed for this purpose yet), this mod will allow users to interpolate between the alt maps and the standard maps. This would be helpful for users running standard gas or a mixture with E85. An ethanol sensor can tell the ECU the % of ethanol in the mix.

yeah please, sounds good. can you sent it to me? e-mail me or something.

why can't i boost with on 87? check this out, lets say i tune for 10.0 at redline (which I will never get to in 87) and just pull timing.
I know the car will be slow, but i would be more economic. then later when tephra makes an update for 88590015 to switch maps w/ an external push button
then I can go to the gas station refill with 93 octane and switch maps or something.
how do you do that? what do you mean its a manual thing?

Hey Tephra, got anything working for the 70008 ROM yet? I tested it a while back and again yesterday and like I said before, it makes the car unable to start plus the fan stays on as soon as the key goes to the on position.
-something I just thought of: I've got my EGR check disabled because I have a blockoff plate... could you have moved that code around so that when I changed that value I accidentally did something else?

hmmm... maybe I'll try to start afresh w/o the egr thing... I guess I'll just throw a code for it. My fenders just came in so the coding might take a backburner for a while.... so excited to get this thing roadworthy again.

for further clarification, knock sensor maps have NOT been changed, correct?
