ECU Flash "An Error Occured"

This is weird, I used to be able to connect to my ECU no porblem, tunned it did logs.

So now I want to uplaod the CEL+NLTS+VALET map, but since I had 1.29 ECU Flash, and Tephra's maps only have hex files for 1.30 and 1.31, I update to 1.30, and go to download my map, just to see if everything is connecting fine, to my surprise I get an error, so I start the ECU Unlocker in teh backround, also no go.

So I uninstall that 1.30 with Tephra's mods, thinking I messed something up. I unstall a vergin 1.30 version, same issue.

So I uninstall the 1.30 version, and reinstall my 1.29a verison, and still no go, same errors, with and without the Unlocker running.

I unplugged the cable, and replugged it, same issues. HELP! WHat gives?

Where can I read these logs that the error message talks about?

Your battery might be too low. Try putting a jumper pack on the car and flash it.

see if you can connect to the ecu with evoscan to ensure your cable is working ok,
also why dont you download and use ecuflash V1.34???
then check the white initalisation plug is properly connected and that the push fit red connector in the middle of the cable is connected properly,
failing all that try and uninstall ecuflash and reinstall???

Come to think about it, I was setting up my amp two days ago, and did not drive the car since, so the battery might be a bit low, not low enough to have starting problems, but low enough to poop EcuFlash. It is a fairly new car (battery) so I'm gonna go for a ride, and charge it that way, and re-try, I'll report back.

Thanks for the advice

It has nothing to do with being able to start the car. the ecu is sensitive to battery voltage, and wont flash if its under a certain threshold. drove me crazy yesterday i had the same problem, took me a while to remember the cause. It is especially prone to happening in cold weather. my advice to you if you don't have a charger or anything is turn the car on and rev the engine to about 4k for 5 mins and turn the car off, this should be enough of a boost to flash the car.

If you looked at the file you downloaded from tephra properly...it says "ecuflash 1.30 and below.txt" and ecuflash 1.31 and above.txt"

You didn't need to change the version of ecuflash you had.

Evoryder : Damit, now you tell me, hehe, oh well.

Problem solved, it was the lower voltage that was causing it, I let the car idle for 5 min, then I tried again, and it worked.

Oh well, at least this will be a good search thread for others with the same problem.

Thank you all for your help.

I use a 150 watt inverter to plug my laptop into my car. I have to unplug the inverter when I flash or I get the same error.
